Alan O'Neill at Oriel to witness his record being equaled by Gary Rogers

Alan O'Neill

I would just like to thank the supporters & directors of Dundalk FC for the incredible welcome I received at last night's match v Derry City. It was very humbling. I had 8 incredible years at Oriel and loved every second of them. Great great memories.

I know there’s more to it - like having lads available for training matches and so on - but given the scale if the injuries we’ve had surely if you’re bringing a lad in for just a couple of months it has to be someone capable of slotting straight in. The Hoare in Chris Shields’ position thing ended up costing us valuable points.

Best of luck to Joe McKee

History tells us that short notice loan signings always tend to be something of a lottery. There are exceptions, but Alan Spavin types are few and far between

Spavin was some player only played a few games but got us over the line that season

Michael Hector, Shaun Williams and Carl McHugh spring to mind as quality loanees, but they're few and far between.

Mark Quigley.... what a player, what a headcase. Still only 33.

Or not. Seems there is an appeal from the beaten semifinalists concerning the eligibility of a Sheriff player. Match has been postponed.

Simon Kelly and Hernany Macedo Marques the 'Rolls-Royce' player have both left Warrenpoint.

Should this be in the transfers / rumours section?

Rotherham Utd Assistant Manager Richie Barker talking about Richie Towell "exploring other options"
Towell, whose deal with parent club Brighton & Hove Albion expires this summer, had talks in the January transfer with the Millers about a permanent move but that option is now off the table.

"Unless something drastically changes, Richie has decided that he's going to explore other opportunities," Barker said.

"The conversation in January didn't go the way everybody was hoping it would go. It was nobody's fault. The contract situation just couldn't be sorted at that particular time.

"The second half of the campaign didn't perhaps go as well for Richie as he would have liked, then we had the emergence of young Wilesy (Ben Wiles) and, towards the end of the season, Crooksy (Matt Crooks).

"With Semi (Ajayi) also playing in midfield as well, it limited Richie's opportunities. The season sort of fizzled out for him really and he's now free to explore whatever he wants to do."
