Gabriel Sava signs for Warrenpoint - presumably to replace Mark Byrne who may well get a lengthy suspension after getting involved in a scuffle with Ballymena fans

Although Gerry seems to think he will be back after his automatic 3 match suspension

I'm presuming Gabriel has been brought in as cover for Mark Byrne who is on suspension at the moment. He must serve 2 more games after being sent off against Ballymena.Mark has been the no1 keeper since Barry Grey came in .He should most def remain so

Eric Cantona got an 8 months ban for assaulting a fan, massive fines and a two week prison sentence , later overturned on appeal. I would be amazed if Mark Byrne escapes any further sanction

Three months ban --- a lucky boy in my opinion. They could and probably should have thrown the book at him!......a harsh lesson but hopefully he will come back next season a better and more mentally tougher goalkeeper!

A wee piece from Cameron Dummigan:

https://www.belfastlive.co.uk/sport/foo ... s-17778237
Highlights the problem of trying to have quality cover in single positions. Lads just get pissed off. And of course last week was the first time in an age that Gannon appeared strapped up. Garts personifies the Kenny era and he’s a real leader at the club. I hope he’s not next on the ‘doesn’t play, wants out’ list.

Didnt know Michael O Connor is the new Waterford captain.

Still young and bags of potential. If he keeps the head down he will do well this season

According to James Rogers on Twitter;

Jesus 'Chino' Perez who had a brief but highly publicised trial with Dundalk last month has signed his first professional contract with USL Championship side Tacoma Defiance. They are the reserve side for Seattle Sounders.

I thought he signed for New York City?

The article is well worth reading and indicates that Michael O'Connor has reached a point where he could well put a troubled past behind him and progress on a personal recovery journey. I wish him well

Michael has certainly had his problems over the last few years. It would be great if he has turned a corner. Still very young and time is on his side but it has to start now. Hopefully the responsibility of captain will be a help. The lad has bags of talent and hopefully well see the best of him this season except of course against ourselves!!
There is also a fantastic side to Michael that Ive seen personally over the last few years.

Best wishes for the future Michael and prove the doubters wrong.

Would be interesting to see the results of a straw poll of current O.P. attendees as to who genuinely remembers McAreavey playing for Dundalk... a sweet left peg in his day!

Manager Stuart McCall believes there is more to come from man of the match Dylan Connolly after he inspired Bradford to a 2-1 victory over nine-man Plymouth.

Hope the money St Mirren pay is good, cos not sure what else McGrath is getting out of being cannon fodder for Celtic in a club where he’ll never win anything. St Mirren now in the relegation play off spot.
