I agree Boyle’s class but to be fair to Garts he’s *only* 31 and a fitness fanatic. He can play for us for at least another 5 yrs

Brian Gartland has been brilliant for us, but if you are suggesting we should pass on trying to sign an available Andy Boyle, that would be incredible in my eyes. Can you imagine what he could bring to the current Shamrock Rovers defence instead of ours?

I think Boyle improved Gartland as a player, as much for the way that Garts could get forward knowing Boyle had that bit more pace to get back. He was superb at organising the defence and the full backs were more inclined to pull in to cover as well as them able to get forward also without the sense of scrambling back if possession is lost. That said our defensive record domestically is immense. Cleary would learn an awful lot from the way Boyle reads things. We would be even stronger with him back at the club! Wanting a player of Boyle's calibre back isnt a slight on players we have currently.

At the start of last year we were an absolute mess defensively, which shows how much we missed Boyle. It was only when Barrett got dropped and Vemmelund was put in the middle that it started to get sorted. Garts needs that type of player beside him, and Hoare is becoming that. I don't like Garts and Cleary as a pair. Garts has been fantastic, but I'd *love* to see Hoare and Boyle as a pairing.

I’m not. I’m just pointing out that Garts can easily play for us for a number of years yet.

Caoimhin Reilly might be stretching things a little when he refers to Marco as a "fans favourite" in his report of him getting a new Scandinavian club
