It's a question of motivation, really. Stephen Kenny assembled a squad of good, but not outstanding players and gelled them into an outstanding team.
Oxford, you need Stephen Kenny.

Ah Niall you told me not a chance of it happening when I suggested that a while back, anyway on our striker crisis we need a striker IMO the only player that I feel can play that role is ciaran o connor I no he's only 18 but he's 2 goals in 2 games in preseason I think kenny should stick him in I think he would do a job until we get someone in mc millian has'et had a great preseason he's not the same player since his injury and Kelly and Byrne are wingers which leaves o connor up top but only time will tell as greyer said if your good enough your old enough.

Can we seriously take a punt.on an 18 yr old striker when we are defending champions.

No its not ideal niall but the reality is we have imo not many options mc millian hasn't recovered from injury he just doesn't look right kelly is a winger to small for a target man which leaves us with byrne and O'Connor.

very harsh on McMillan considering he hasn't played a competitive game since being injured, and remember he went over on his ankle its not as if hes coming back from a year out with a broken leg cruciate knee ligament!

Spiderman, are you Ciaran O'Connor's web swinging agent or something? Of course McMillan should be starting ahead of O'Connor, it's absolutely crazy to think that we should go out and defend our league title with a kid because 'he has 2 goals in pre-season'. I could get 2 goals in pre-season.

McMillan isn't ideal for what we want, but he scores goals and has been scoring goals at this level for years. His hold up play leaves a lot to be desired.

O'Connor is a likable lad, a local lad and I hope he stays at Dundalk and has a great career here, but calling for him to be Hoban's replacement is crazy.

Its obvious that McMillan will be starting tomororw night as the main striker, also id say if a change needs to happen with him coming off, it will be Byrne as his replacement.

I think we will see Kurtis being used primarily as a striker this season, also Jake Kelly can play right behind the striker too, so we do have options, along with Ciaran O'Connor.

As much as I think we will miss Hoban, our MF is much stronger, especially Meenan and Horgan who were both superb towards the end of 2014, add in Finn and its the best in the league, by a country mile. Plus we still have O'Donnell to come back.

Pat Hoban's gone..... McMillan is not Hoban, Byrne is not Hoban. Perhaps we'll see a change of tactics from Kenny? Plenty of teams play without a big target man, and we have an unbelievably strong midfield.

Good Interview from Hoban On Radio Oxford after our win at Bury,
He pushed the ball onto O'Dowda to score,
Patrick isn't down beaten about not scoring in 9 games, hopefully next saturday....COME ON YOU YELLOWS!!!

O'Dowda's grandfather is from Dundalk. Whats he like as a player? Did he come up through the youth teams?

Didn't realise that.
O'Dowda is an up and coming Oxford born lad, has loads of potential
Has beefed up a bit recently as he was rather weedy early days.
He has just signed a 3 yr deal
