That number 7 for them is a serious handful

Gav saying Massey was stitched a headbutt in the aftermath of their second goal, SK not happy about it obviously!
Ian Foster: (On the expectations level at Dundalk): "That's why you want to be involved in management. If I don't do well I'll do my shopping in Newry!"

Ian Foster: Last seen heading for Newry.

Decent result in fairness. They won't fancy coming to fortress Oriel. Keep it tight and nick one in the 87th minute!!

Great performance. Home leg is perfectly poised. Fair balls.

Ok so job half done. We still in the tie as we wished for. It would have been expected to have to score in Oriel so the away goal is a massive bonus. Good shift put in by the lads. Just annoying that their first came from a mistake before be got up to the level of sharpness we need. Very good position for home leg though Honved still haunts a bit!

I'm happy with the result. Also felt we held our own. Roll on next week.

Brilliant display, especially 1st half. We were the better side overall, and in hindsight, it would have been nice to get a 2nd goal. However, BATE won't fancy OP next week. Plat like we did tonight, with a few things tweeked (tighten up at the back) and we should go through. 1-0 will be enoug!!! I'm a proud fan tonight!! C'mon the Town.

What a performance! Nothing to fear next Wednesday I think - play the way we did tonight and we'll be in the next round. Simple as that.

I though we were better at the back than of recent. A few times i'd have rathered a bit of a punt up the field than a short ball as there was little margin for error when BATE closed us down, I was expecting an interception but maybe thats just the nervy fan state of mind. We certainly dont look too comfortable back peddling as they pick up as loose ball and close on the defence at pace. The level of discipline was excellent considering the amount of fouling BATE did and no diving in to tackles and the like. No bookings but how did BATE get away without any cards for persistent fouling...didnt mind that too much as we are dangerous on the set piece. Horgan will have a better game next week and the lads will be more likely to hit the ground running rather than the initial getting up to the pace of the European game. While Sheilds may have made the error for the first goal he was a lot quicker and precise with the ball after. O'Donnell was so nonchalant looking this evening. Roy Keane like picking up the ball, stepping away from the tackle and making a basically simple but effective pass, retaining the possession even under pressure. As much as I want McMillan to succeed in the role he plays and he did take his goal well, not really holding the ball up that well means we give possession up and we are frantically getting back. He does a lot of closing down allright but we do need another option there imo.
