I think there's a fair chance this is Kenny's last season with us, and depending on how Europe goes, he could even go in the summer if the right job came up for him. That said I think he would only go to a job where he was given a total rebuild, or he knew and liked the players. Not sure he'd fancy a Dunfermline/Rovers again.

Anyway I hope there's succession planning in place. We all know it's on the cards, would be daft to get caught out.

A long term contract is urgently needed.

By far, and I mean by a considerable distance, the best news from anyone that signed on for 2017, was having Kenny on board for another season.

When does his current contract end by the way, is it the end of 2018?

A longer term contract would not stop Stephen Kenny leaving for an attractive offer that appealed to his ambition.

But what it would achieve is to give the club some leverage through seeking compensation. This could effectively rule out a move to another League of Ireland club and give bargaining power if the UK claim came calling.

I have no doubt that the club willing be looking to agree an extension to his current contract sooner rather than later.

Why would anyone show any loyalty to Dundalk unless they were born and bred there, it has nothing to offer but money. I hear someone shout medals, they'll get those medals at Rovers very very soon, watch.

Hows Finner & Mickey O'Connor getting on Reefer? You think McPhail will get more out of them when he is in temporary charge?

I can't think of many examples where a player leaving a club has been pretty terrible for both that player and the club. We have missed Finn so far, and his move to Rovers has been a disaster for him in footballing terms.

Agreed. People can talk about the great contract he has at Rovers, but surely Finn is thinking its been a mistake.

And we could definitely do with him in midfield. Although he probably would have missed the first part of the season.

Be good to see Pat back at oriel but we currently have 3 strikers and 2 of them are useless one of them or both would have to be released to free up cash in order for us to pay Hoban a wage.

It is not simply a case of releasing a player who has a contract to at least the end of the season. But if it were possible I would like to see both Pat Hoban and Ciaran O'Connor return on 1 July.

Dave Mooney and Paul Keegan have both been released. Both are 32 years old and could be interesting short term options
