Regarding Mccormac he has been approached by the club on various occasions over the past 6 years and has turned us down every time. He even turned us down for Derry.

Aye tis true re: McCormack.

If we're looking to replace Skip long term we should be in for Fuad Sule, seen him a couple of times this season in Dalyer and he's one of the best players at that age I've seen in the LOI in manys a year, covers every blade of grass as a defensive mid and is fantastic and putting pressure on the ball/ attackers and winning it back. That lad's going places if he keeps his head screwed on right.
Ian Foster: (On the expectations level at Dundalk): "That's why you want to be involved in management. If I don't do well I'll do my shopping in Newry!"

Ian Foster: Last seen heading for Newry.

Thats interesting. I wonder did he had a falling out with when at schoolboys or felt he was previously overlooked by Dundalk. If wages were met or beaten then it is a personal issue - pity as as a local lad he'd probably gain cult status with his tenacious midfield play.

He was brought to train with Dundalk while Foster was manager.

regarding McCormack, he played centre mid week in week out under MON at rovers, was young player of the year and was part of that team that did well in Europe. Kenny came in and decided bringing in Killian Brennan would be a better option in centre mid and relegated him to the bench, when he did play him he moved him back to RB and his career stalled a bit.

Kenny did try to sign him while at Pats but he prefered the chance of starting every week in midfield at Derry where he done really well.

He also did both ankles a few times and had surgery on both calves and found the old surface very hard on his legs anytime he played

Ezeikial wrote:If you believe John Caulfied, quoted in the Mirror today, their signing of Kieran Sadlier is their last of the transfer window
Having landed long-time target Kieran Sadlier from Sligo Rovers yesterday, Caulfield claims his business in the transfer market is done.

Greene and Douglas have been sounded out but Caulfield said: “Our budget is done and that's where we're at. I don't expect us to sign anyone else.”

While he may be flying kites, it indicates a clear run at signing Hoban if it is what SK wants.

I would still not be surprised if Aaron Greene landed at Oriel Park this week. In many ways he would be more suitable to our immediate needs, providing much needed options on the wing and cover at centre forward

Gavin McLaughlin has tweeted that we are in for Greene! :) :)

It sounds like so far it's at least three (maybe more?)

Me, Stephen Kenny and Louth4sam

Good shout. Can play on wing or up top and is mobile and good in the air, characteristics our reserve striker doesn't posses. It would also give us an attacking threat off the bench which is something we've been lacking at times this season. It would certainly be an alternative option to signing Hoban if his wage demands aren't what the club feels he is worth

He is also saying Hoban signing still on. Tonight is deadline for this round of CL

Dundalk are still hopeful of signing Patrick Hoban and have also made a move for Bray Wanderers' Aaron Greene.

Dylan Connolly might be well advised not to get involved in commenting on the Bray shambles

I'd be marginally in favour of signing Hoban. I suppose the winter break has proved that there is a dearth of quality strikers as I'm sure SK looked to strength that position but was unable to. However I do believe that Hoban would have a lot to prove if he came back. I'd rather him than Greene but I really don't think we need both esp after signing Connolly.
To me, a midfielder of the quality O'Donnell or Finn is badly needed. I think SK knows this, as that's why he signed Clifford. This hasn't worked out so basically we are one down in midfield as we haven't replaced Richie or Finn. This for me is where we'll struggle in Europe or against Cork. The run we are on is fantastic ( but look at the opposition ) and the win away to Bray has given me the feeling that we are not a million miles behind Cork, but they were clinical in OP , so for us to challenge next season, we need a top quality MF.
