Big challenge looming on Monday night

As always SK will go looking for all 3 points, but it may be that we may have to be content with a draw

Derry having a bit of an injury crisis if you're to believe Shiels.

This bit jumped out at me from the Derry Journal report of Shamrock Rovers v Derry City:

City go into Monday night';s mouthwatering clash with champions, Dundalk at Maginn Park now with confidence having lost just once in the last 18 games - their last defeat coming against the Lilywhites last September!

I think this is going to be a very difficult match, we might do well to get a draw. Derry are a strong side but I just don't see them getting two big wins in a row, we have a good recent record over them though.

We beat them in the league at home in sept, drew at home in the cup semi then won the replay away. If we are to get a result, we will need to do a lot better in central midfield, you could see the massive loss that O'Donnell was last Friday, but hopefully Shields will be fit to start, that will help matters.

A mate of mine was at the match in Tallaght on Friday. He thought Derry were very poor and only won because Rovers were rubbish.

They will be strong from set pieces. It will be a good test of the Barrett/Gartland partnership. This would be a good game to have Chris Shields in the line up.

Make no mistake Derry will be up for it and this will be our biggest test since the presidents cup final.

Very disappointing result. Listening to comms and following on Twitter it sounded like Derry were worth the win and we created little from open play. Two errors from Sava though is v disappointing. Rogers back in for Sunday I suspect.

Tough opening run of games though and 9/12 points isn't a bad return with the new players settling in and so many injuries. We also lost game #4 last season (Cork) and we all know how that ended up. Just need to win on Saturday ahead of the big one at Turners Cross (assuming it goes ahead - Ireland U21s might have a say in that).

That's a bit extreme niall considering its only March and the season ends in October. There will be plenty of twists and turns along the way. Last season we lost 5 games I think, 2 of those were to Cork.

Talking to a few boys at the game and they said it was a poor performance from us. Saw the goals in soccer Republic and poor goals conceded by Sava

Derry are title contenders from this weekends results

The warning signs were there last Friday by losing so much pocession in MF. Disappointing result but hopefully Shields, Rogers & McMillan will all be back soon to start.

O'Donnell appears to be a few more weeks away, be great if he was available for Cork.

Two big results for Derry. There's a new kid in town this season it seems!

Only just watched the goals this am on soccer republic and Sava was very poor for the last 2 and possibly even the first as well although he may have been unsighted.

As I said pre match Derry would be hard to beat,we've lost to the 2 teams above us in the lge recently, only 4 games in no panick yet, only time will tell if the players we lost will have a negative effect by round two, thought Derrys equaliser was more Gartland/Barrett fault in saying that Sava did make the mistakes for the other two goals and we need to be sticking our opportunitys away at the other end.
