Postby dundalkfc1903 » Tue Mar 28, 2017 12:40 pm

El Plastico next up. Perfect game to bounce back, crowd will be up for it from the start. It will be another high tempo game.

Injuries and suspensions mounting.

Will SK be tempted to tinker with the back 4? I think probably not and he will give Garts and Barrett another few games together. With Benson out, Shields and Clifford will probably start in the middle.

Kilduff thankfully is suspended. Hopefully McMillan is fit to start now.

Rogers
Gannon Garts/Hoare Barrett Massey
Mountney/McGrath Clifford Shields McEleney Duffy
McMillan

Interesting one - do you make the changes against a weaker opponent, or do you stick with it hoping to bounce back from the defeat?

He can't change the defence wholesale, but I think he should be looking at rotating Hoare in now for Gartland. Love Garts, but he's missing Boyle badly. Rest of the team probably picks itself assuming they're all fit.
There's only one word for that - magic darts...

i would make a few changes.. team for me would be..
Rogers
Massey, Vemmelund, and one of either Barrett or Garts, Gannon.
McEleney, Mountney, Shields, Benson if fit. If not Duffy.
and I would try 2 up top with Stewart and McMillan.
Win the game early doors.

I would like to see McGrath starting this game, thought he did ok last match I saw him start, might have been Limerick? I'd also throw in Hoare, perfect game for him too.

If there are even minor doubts on McEleney, he sits this one out, not that it will be a walk in the park, but bigger fish to fry.

Agree also on Stewart, I`d like to see more of him too.

This is a significant blow so early in the campaign as he can offer something different, so he will prob miss all of April and May.

On the plus side, O'Donnell should be back after next week I think?

Team news

As Kenny has confirmed above, Dundalk will be without the services of striker Ciaran Kilduff who serves an automatic one match suspension for his red card last weekend in Cork. Robbie Benson suffered a hamstring tear in that encounter also and is ruled out for 6-8 weeks. Stephen O’Donnell is still unavailable due to a thigh problem as is Shane Grimes who continues his recovery from a hamstring injury. Steven Kinsella has a groin strain and Seán Hoare continues his way back to the first team and was again included in last week’s squad. However there are doubts over Paddy Barrett (thigh) and Patrick McEleney (groin). Both players will be given to the last possible moment to prove their fitness.

Barrett being injured might give us a reason to play Vemmelund at centre back alongside Gartland and see how that goes.

Barret, Benson, Grimes, Hoare, Kinsella, McEleney, O'Donnell injured or carrying knocks and risks will have to be taken with that length of an injury list. McMillan just back from injury and Kilduff suspended. Massey and Rogers have been out injured and Clifford in other codes would be out post concussion. Talk about having a squad tested and early season. It really is about keeping on the coat tails until we get a full squad to pick from.

Vemmelund and Stewart i'd like to see in the starting 11 and not push McMillan in to 70 or 80 minutes after being nursed back so far. If Barrett has picked up an injury Vemmelund and Gartland could start and maybe should anyway.

I think Stephen should have appealed the card and the FAI might have increased it to 3 games!!!!!

Why Vemmelund instead of Hoare?

If Hoare is fit and ready then yes he should feature. Vemmelund is fully fit and match ready.
