Goal line official.

Yes, there are other things to discuss apart from Dundalk F.C. and feel free to discuss them here!

Goal line official.

In the Bohs/Cork semi final a penalty was awarded - apparently on the advice of the goal line official. What I am wondering is why the goal line official is always on the same side as the linesman. Surely it would make more sense for him to be on the far side of the goal?

I think it has something to do with this. When a lot of players are in the box, like from a corner or free kick, the ref positions himself on one side of the box and the 5/6 official on the other side as an extra pair of eyes. So I reckon he is on that side so that the ref isn’t in the way of the linesman.
King Kenny!
