In the last 7 days computer viruses have all but wrecked my computer.

I simply don't buy into some spotty schoolkid nerd writing these viruses and outwiting the likes of MicroSoft and Norton.

I suspect the anti-virus companies are behind the never-ending source of computer viruses.

Well. the one that has probably wrecked yours was the w32 blaster worm which was written to publicise micro$oft's ineptitude in writting bug-free, safe software. Dunno if you have this or not Stephen but there is free anti-virus software available athttp://www.grisoft.com/ with free updates for life.
I don't buy into the anti-virus companies conspiracy theory, they're first with the FREE removal tools on their respective websites.

With respect Colin, the fact that you can get free fix-it tools on the Net doesn't add up to a row of beans.

The fact of the matter is that the multi-billion dollar anti-virus industry needs a regular and frequent supply of viruses to get their software sold. Over the 2 weeks there has been a 200% increase in the sales anti-virus software.

Its not beyond the bounds of possibility that some of this massive interest facilitate the writing and spreading of computer viruses.

PS - I know that Mircosoft would have nothing to gain by it.

Ever wonder why Linux, Unix, and Apple based operating systems don't get these virus??
Let me illuminate to you the precarious situation in which you have found yourself.
I am the one they call in when things go wrong.
And things have indeed gone wrong.

I am just after emptying my inbox. I received it 43 times in one day!!! Unfortunately my email address is available on a couple of websites for business purposes. There is no other way to explain why I would get it so many times.

My advise to anyone is DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS unless you are certain that they are legitimete. Delete any emails immediately if they contain a double barrelled extension (e.g. *.doc.pix).
