Fyffes

Postby Northern Lilywhites » Fri Aug 22, 2014 5:19 am

Local banana company founded by a local family in Clanbrassil street. A huge fruit import company with a never say die attitude that has it's roots firmly based in Dundalk. Fyffes are looking to acquire American based Chiquita Brands International, A deal which would turn the Ramparts based/Dublin HQ'd company into the biggest fruit import business in the World.Yeah the WORLD!
Fyffes are already the biggest fruit import company in Europe.

Long term it could all mean jack shit to DundalkFC but Fyffes are known to be decent benafactors to the club & other sporting organisations in the local community.

Keep an eye on the story-

Thats oldish news as Fyffes and Chiquita announced this tie-up around the beginning of the year however there has been another approach made by a rival for Chiquita with a rival trying to mussel in on the deal and take over Chiquita instead. It has been making the news recently due to this new approach.

Yerp a bit of an oldish story alright but one that just got very interesting over the last week or so with the Brazilians bidding and Chiquita recommending that their share holders accept the Fyffes offer/takeover.This story has some legs in it yet!

Fyffes have the edge in this. While the short term dividends to shareholders in Chiquita would be greater with the Brazilian offer, a bank and an investment firm looking to broaden a portfolio; Fyffes are looking for a merger rather than a takeover and providing a European base in Ireland for Chiquita to benefit from our tax system

Fyffes seem confident that the merger will go ahead despite the fact they gave the go ahead for talks to tke place with a rival company.Fyffes stock rose by a small fraction on that news. When we win the treble Fyffes stock will quadruple.Buy NOW! :) or is it bye now?
