As it looks like our involvement in Euro 16 may come to an end this evening and to fill the hole of wall to wall football until Friday night's return to Oriel how about a quick straw poll if we faced a similar question at the ballot box. While our attitude to the EU has never been as great a question as it has in the UK, recent impositions by the EU on Ireland economically has probably watered down enthusiasm of membership from prior to say 2007-9 to current times with water charges, property taxes etc. implemented. Dundalk is once again on the front line for the Republic of Ireland in relation to the impact of a border with the UK and will be effected first/most if the UK vote to leave. Any thoughts?
It will be interesting to watch how things pan out especially with a leave vote imo as the 'Union' could start to disintegrate from within, devolved parliaments look at England as carrying a vote regardless of votes locally in Scotland, Wales and up North, and political parties splinter and/or realign. A stay vote would be dull in a way with just the hushing of the likes of UKIP and a loss of credibility of sorts for Boris and co.
UK Referendum.

While the result was a disaster for Ireland it might give the EU a kick up the arse and start to listen to its citizens. I wouldn't be sorry if it went back to basics. Free movement of people and goods and maybe keep the Euro.
