Re: SK. 2020
This is wonderful news. A real shot in the arm coming into the latter stages of the season with 2 cups (3 if you include the Leinster Cup) and of course 2nd place. One year would have been good, 2 great but to have him here for another 3 plus years is just amazing news. The rebuild has started and securing Stephens signature was a vital part of our future. Another point to note is that there is no way he would have signed a long term deal if he wasn't happy with the plans for the future of the club.
Well done to Paul, Andy and Martin for making this happen. The future is bright, very bright.

Re: SK. 2020
Brilliant news and this was also the first thought I had Alan, he must have been satisfied that plans are in place to start off the rebuild project, there were references mentioned in his interview to improvements so if he is happy to sign for 3 more years, that's as strong an indication as can be that things are moving along nicely behind the scenes too.bigalan wrote:This is wonderful news. Re: SK. 2020
Couldn't have put it better myself. In fact any lingering doubts that were about regarding the club's future have been completely banished. It shows terrific work by the club owners & also faith by Stephen Kenny in his belief that his future lies with Dundalk FC as it makes further progress forward. Once again, congrats to all concerned.bigalan wrote:This is wonderful news. Re: SK. 2020
I think that this is the most significant event of the year.
Stephen Kenny signing on for another 3 years is a clear demonstration of his commitment to the club and indicates that his ambition is being matched by the club owners and board. They fully deserve our appreciation and gratitude for their marvelous stewardship of the club since 2012.
There is obviously much work to be done to re-build our ability to win titles and compete for european group stages again - Stephen Kenny, along with the club owners and board are the team best placed to do this.
Best re-signing of this or any other season!

Mark McCadden makes some comparisons and contrasts between Stephen Kenny and Martin O'Neill in his Fear and Loathing in Tbilisi article:
https://www.buzz.ie/sport/fear-loathing-tbilisi-252616On the eve of Dundalk's home game against Zenit St Petersburg last year, Stephen Kenny fielded the usual questions in a David-versus-Goliath situation.
How would his Lilywhites side cope with the mighty Russians? Would they set out to contain? Fear, fear, fear.

Stephen Kenny - Next Ireland Manager?
https://www.thesun.ie/sport/football/14 ... -snobbery/DERMOT KEELY Stephen Kenny could easily be the next Ireland manager – the only reason he couldn’t is snobbery
Michael O'Neill's incredible work with Northern Ireland proves the Dundalk boss would be able for the international step-up

Re: SK. 2020
There is a world of difference between club management and international management and I don't believe that Stephen Kenny would cut it at international level. It seems to me that his success is due partly to the fact that he is in constant touch with his players. He could not do that at international level.

Re: SK. 2020
If he was given te time necessary ala Michael O'Neill he would revelotionise the way football is played and coached in the country. Croatia is a similar sized country and their players are more technical in the way that SK likes in players. He'd be wasted in grassroots football but it is coaches of his thinking that are needed there across all schoolkids leagues. It does take a lot longer to get ideas across to players at international but SK has a lot of ambition left for Dundalk FC; we might see quite a few of his former club players in the international camps that would feed in to his thinking quickly enough. The LoI manager experiment with youth success under the belt didnt end up to well before. For now at least international would probably be a bore to SK unless his remit was to include full say on player develipment from U7s on.
