For a stand ticket it is exceptionally pricey. But I suppose the squad has to be funded. But to put it into perspective Chelsea the past few seasons for Europa League and Champions league group stages and indeed the qtr final this season were charging £25 into stamford bridge.

€20 for the ground is only a €5 premium although the stand is a little pricey at €30. It's still compares well with the cost of travel and ticket for Tallaght

I'm not so sure how relevant the Chelsea pricing is. Supply and demand obviously plays a part and a quick google indicates that the normal prices for league matches in Stamford Bridge are in the range of £50 to £90.

I didn't mention league game ezeikial. I said group stages which is a step above qualifiers. Look i get the club are trying to make as much money as possible but €30 is over priced for the facilities and riga are not a big name draw.

And shamrock rovers have kept their prices fixed at their normal €15 for their Europa league game.

I certainly hope there are no regular fans who can’t afford to go. That said I do think it is comparable value for money for most entertainment, €12 for the pictures. 20 for the zoo and 20+ for the theatre. Yes the facilities are better but where would you rather be and where would you rather your money went to. €15 for a regular game is very good value so it’s not bad for a one off. Easy for me to say as I am lucky enough to afford it but I hope people show some perspective. It is the premium equivalent to one or two pints. And yes explaining the premium would be a good move by the club

It's extortionate. The club are already getting 800k for the game, no need to shake down hard pressed fans for an extra few quid. €30 into a field with two barns, mad

I know you didn't Niall.

I simply questioned the relevance of the ticket prices you quoted. Many UK clubs charge lower prices for European games than league games to promote lower demand matches.

In our case demand tends to outstrip supply because of the lower capacity.

€20 for the ground is not unreasonable in my view.

From a commercial perspective they are probably right considering they have 8,000 seats available

We are going to have from 500 to possibly 1000 fans in Tallaght this Friday night, a home game the following Monday followed by at least 2 European home games. That's 3 games that have to be paid into, 4 if you're a non season ticket holder. Quite expensive if you want to go to all 4 games.
Personally I'm not quite sure why the club saw fit to raise the prices for the European games this year, especially as was mentioned above that we will make at least 800k. The Riga game will still sell out but for me it leaves a bit of a bad taste.

I take your point regarding the large number of games in a short period but the flip side of that is that there hasn’t been a home game for a month.

psychologically 30 seems to cross a line that 25 doesn’t. The capacity is 3,000 odd and absolutely the squad assembled has to be paid for. And I’d take this over Tallaght.

But the fact is Oriel has very few unrestricted views of the whole pitch and for that reason alone it seems a bit much. Now if they said they were ring-fencing the surplus towards ground works...

The €800k would have been included as part of this years plans in determining the playing budget, as would have been an estimate for 2 home games (income) and 2 away trips(costs). We can't just say the club is making €800k. I would also suspect that league gates have fallen below target, so the club needs to try and recover money wherever possible.
