Derry are the only club to have won the current domestic treble of League-FAI Cup- League Cup, but as El Paso says it has been done before the League Cup started in 1973-74. Before that the Shield was the third competition and Bohs did the treble in 1928 and Rovers did it three times. Indeed Rovers won the League, FAI Cup, Shield, City Cup and Leinster Senior Cup in 1963-64 for a pentuple. The Top Four Cup was the only 'major' one they missed out on- beaten by Dundalk!
Dundalk also won a treble of sorts in 1966-67- League, Shield, Top Four Cup. And of course we won four trophies in 2015- League, FAI Cup, Leinster Senior Cup, Presidents Cup.
A reminder that we have the President's Cup in the bag and a potential cross-border cup to come if we win the league!

I had put the Unite Cup out if my mind as - at the time of the announcement- Johnny Ward was paying out on the title going to Tallaght. Night game in Oriel, Bovril to warm your heart. Yes please.seand wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 8:45 amDerry are the only club to have won the current domestic treble of League-FAI Cup- League Cup, but as El Paso says it has been done before the League Cup started in 1973-74. On a side note, Linfield v Rangers next week. Talk about a "love in".

(Stupid comment about Linfield & Rangers now removed, hangs head in shame)

Not sure where you're getting Linfield v Rangers from oldfogey, but they're both playing our old sparring partners, Linfield v Qarabag and Rangers v Legia

Apologies to all, as soon as I hit send I had this strange feeling. Then the phone rang. We were even talking on the bus on Tuesday night about Qarabag going to Belfast. Unfortunately you picked it up before I could delete it.

Very satisfying performance. Little disappointed with 2200 crowd. Chances taken and screwed out of two stonewall penalties.
Big thing is McEleney’s return to form, which was wonderful to see. Absolutely delighted! Eir just glad to get some goals! Nearly everyone fit, in decent form, and match fit for the run in.
Meanwhile the farce that is UCD in the Premier Division reaches a new low.

One down 7 to go... and the next 2 league games are home and away to UCD.
Dundalk Fc. First Irish club to win points in group stages of a major European Competition.

Harps could (should?) have had a second player red carded for the smack in the head.
I thought it was a stuttering performance when it was 11 v 11 but eased to a comfortable win after Harps went down a man
McEleney was a joy to watch at times - hopefully he can sustain some form

Played the right team. Georgie scores again. Every time he has stated he has scored. Fats was fab. Pity a sizeable chunk who travelled to Tallaght on tue could not be bothered going up the carrick road. Still atmosphere in Shed was pretty decent. Shed boys put in a shift that should always be recognised. No shed = no atmosphere. Looking forward to Monday night already

Some fans wanted the UCD manager to take over after Kenny...El Paso wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 9:47 pmVery satisfying performance. Little disappointed with 2200 crowd. Chances taken and screwed out of two stonewall penalties.

A few excuses for the poor crowd. TV of course. A couple of Weddings were taking place and a couple of big GAA matches also inc. Gaels V Omahoneys which alone could account for maybe 100+ players and spectators missing. Also financially it would be hard on a lot of families after Tuesday.
To the match, how wonderful was it to see Fats back in form. Apart from his 2 goals, he had 3 excellent efforts saved fantastically by the Harps keeper. Once again it took Duffy a while to get into the game. Sean Hoare and Chris Shields just done whats expected of them by now. Both seem to just cruise through matches. Great to see Georgie getting a goal form all his efforts but needs more game time. Dane I thought also had a great match. Harps as we expected were very physical and got away with a lot early on. The less said about the Ref the better. With our next two League matches V UCD, we should be very comfortable very soon. All in all, very happy with the nights work.
