For a club trying to more professional all over, this seems like a very silly thing to get entangled with.

Calling out a local journalist in such a robust fashion means creditbility will be lost for one of them, but more likely both.

All of the rumours seem high-quality BS. Nick Barmby! David Meyler retired due to Knee issues. Most of these players we would never hear about, so to have randoms like Ashley Nadesan linked is just bonkers. I say fair play to the club, for pushing back on this.
What the ancients called a clever fighter is one who not only wins, but excels in winning with ease.

Only one losing any credibility is James Rogers! Not the first time, he has posted lies about the club!

Hope they tell him to stay away in future

Great response from the club. All singing off 1 hyme sheet and putting rumours down and whoever is feeding Rogers has been found out.
Mind you, we will still see some fans say its wrong and others say great......thats life I guess.

So James Rogers makes up a load of stories about Vinny turning down players that the club are trying to sign, and now Andy Burton, the person tasked with bringing new players into the club is gone?
Hmmm...

I doubt Rogers has made up anything. Used spin, sure, but he's not making it up. That would be career suicide for him. He has a source.

Whether the source is feeding him truth or lies (and why) is the question.

Where is it officially announced Burton is gone?

It won't be officially announced he's gone, or not gone, because he's not officially working for the club anyway.

And that explains why Devlin is able to write what he wrote - because it was Burton acting in a consultant role (i.e. not as an employee or official of Dundalk FC) having those conversations with the people mentioned.

My issue with the rumours around the club this season and they seem endless and significant is that it is not helping the management particularly at this crucial stage of the season.

Of course it is not helping. The question is who is giving him his info, is it from inside the club, is he making it up (which I doubt) or is it an outside source trying to stir things and rock the boat to try and give another team an advantage over us.

Or it could be the club, leaking false info about being linked with new players in order to put pressure on existing players to re-sign.

I doubt that very much. Maybe someone in the club who wants to make themselves feel important but I doubt very much that it would officially be fed, sure all Roger would have to do today is say....it was X, Y or Z from within.

Journalists and papers have been known to be economical and creative with the truth. All you have to do is look at the sun and piers Morgan. In saying that, why would James Rogers make it up? He is writing for a small local press. It certainly would be career suicide as already mentioned. So somebody had been feeding him info cause or otherwise. What was the notice for this? Dunno. It's all a bit weird.
