Dundalk V Bohs | Tues 8 May | 7:45pm | Oriel Park | EA Sports Cup Q-F

Although it is not a welcome addition to a hectic schedule, Tuesday night's game, gives the chance to blow out the poor result against Waterford.

It also gives some players a chance to claim a starting spot in the league games against Sligo on Friday night and Derry the following Monday. Step forward Dylan Connolly and repay the faith your manager has publicly shown in you.

Daniel Cleary is a doubt for the visit of Sligo to Oriel Park on Friday. Stephen Kenny says Sam Byrne will feature against Bohs in the EA Sports Cup on Tuesday

Team news

Karolis Chvedukas remains out with an ankle problem and Sean Gannon is out for another month at least with fractured ribs. Captain Stephen O’Donnell joins both on the sideline with his broken leg and will be out of action for an indefinite period of time. Daniel Cleary is likely to miss out after picking up a hamstring injury in the defeat to Waterford however Sam Byrne is fit to return to the squad.

Hard to predict the line-up tonight, but this is my guess

------------------------Sava-------------------
Poynton-----Gartland----Folan-----Massey
---------------Shields--------Byrne-----------
McGrath----------Adorjan-----------Connolly
-------------------Tagbajumi-------------------

Should have got a chance at right back for sure. But we've all seen how slow Kenny is to make changes to his preferred 11 unless forced. And when he is forced he seems to prefer to play experienced players out of position.

Fair play Dylan , I hope that shuts up the mouths on the side line.

Pleased for Dylan and sounds like we played really well, but also sounds like Mountney is another long term casualty.

Mountney, Gannon and Skip all being out is a big challenge for us heading into the summer. Season is over 1/3 of the way through and we've also seen pretty much nothing of Chvedukas, Adorjan, Byrne or Tagbajumi - we're more or less operating with four centre halfs, two left backs, two midfielders, four attacking midfielders and one striker. Not looking great.

What was Mountney’s injury?

The three U-19's - Gavin Smith, Pablo Cavalcante and Karl Fitzsimons - all did well tonight. Dean Jarvis in the holding midfield position was excellent and gave some indications that he may be able to cover this position in Skip's absence.

Fairly easy win tonight without ever having to reach high performance levels
