Dundalk V Bray Wanderers | Fri 25 May | 7:45pm | Oriel Park

Postby Ezeikial » Tue May 22, 2018 5:33 pm

When we last played Bray back in mid April in the Carlisle Grounds the only point they had on the board was from the opening day draw against us in Oriel Park. They made us work really hard for our 2-0 win that night - just as they did in that previous 0-0 meeting - and only a few days later they got their first win of the season against Shamrock Rovers winning 1-0.

They have played 8 matches since that win and have yet to keep a clean sheet - in fact they have conceded 18 goals in those 8 games and have only added 4 points to their tally - a 2-1 home win against Derry and a 2-2 home draw with Waterford. Their away form in that period has been particularly poor losing 0-2 to Derry, 0-4 to Cork, 1-2 to Sligo and 0-3 to Waterford.

On the face of it a handy 3 points? We all know from painful experience that it does not tend to work that way!

From our perspective we don't have another league game for a full week after this - and with Cork facing a potentially tricky fixture away to an inform St Pats next Friday, a win would put us in a great position heading into June

Stephen Kenny talks about wanting more goals from Jamie McGrath, Michael Duffy and international reognition, and waiting to see if Dane Massey will be fit for Friday's game against Bray

GOAL DIGGER Stephen Kenny wants Dundalk ace Jamie McGrath to add more goals to his game along with the fancy tricks
Kenny believes the Lilywhite ace is more interested in drag backs in midfield but wants him to start scoring more

Team news

Stephen O’Donnell is ruled out with a broken leg and John Mountney is out for another two months with a knee medial problem. Sean Gannon is a few weeks away as he recovers from fractured ribs while Lithuanian international Karolis Chvedukas is back in training after his ankle injury however this match has come too soon for him.

Bray Wanderers players suffer mysterious injuries as wage rumours rise

Not again?!
Not for the first time, the financial situation at Bray Wanderers appears to be dire.

The last 18 months have been a whirlwind for the Seagulls. From their players not getting paid, to an investigation for match-fixing, to their owner comparing the town to North Korea.

When they were once again awarded a Premier Division license for the 2018 season, eyebrows were raised from fans of the league.

Today, it seems like they've been proven right.

Routine stuff here tonight. Bray absolutely useless but sure you have to beat whatever is put in front of you. Its more like a light training session. Not much can be learned from it.

Dundalk were good and could have had a hatful against a poor Bray side who looked as motivated as you might expect of a team rumoured to have not been paid this week.
Hope the young Bray players recovers from his injury late on, it was fukking horrendous.

Facile win

Good that Marco got another goal. Roan Murray and Kristzian Adorjan are also likely to have benefited from getting some game time

Firstly, best wishes for a quick recovery to the Bray player who suffered such a horrific injury & also the person in the shed who took unwell, hope you are ok.

It was said above "you can only beat what's put in front of you" & this is very true of last nights game. Men against boys. Enough said on this one I think. Let's move on....

I know they are not full time or professional but I thought the OOM response left something to be desired. Everyone in the ground could see it was a really bad break even before the ref blew to stop the game. The doc was already on the pitch and covered the ground in under 5 seconds. At other grounds the EMTs are on the touchline immediately geared up and ready to go for anything serious. Last night there seemed to be a discussion about who went out and what they brought. Just needs a bit of organisation.

No urgency from them slowly walking onto the pitch.. And dithering about..
