Got the impression Mike Treacy decided to combine the role of chairman and CEO, at least for the moment.

Presumably Martin Connolly has taken over the responsibilities that he held previously.

I recall reports that Mike Treacy and his board were reflecting on whether a new CEO appointment was necessary.

No appointment by now says to me that it is unlikely to happen in the short term

BBC website piece from November 2018 reporting his planned departure from Brentford at the end of December
Mark Devlin: Brentford chief executive to exit Championship club after seven years

Brentford chief executive Mark Devlin is to leave the role after seven years with the Championship club.

Devlin will depart at the end of December, 18 months before the club make their planned move from Griffin Park to their new home at Lionel Road.

"I have nothing but pride when I look back on my seven years at Griffin Park and what the club has achieved in that time," said Devlin.

"I am leaving with the club in a very healthy position."

Brentford to stay at Griffin Park for 2019-20 season
Bees owner Matthew Benham said: "Mark's leadership ability and expertise have been essential in our journey over the last seven years. He has played a major role in the club's development."

And chairman Cliff Crown added: "We will now begin the search for Mark's replacement who can help the club take the next steps on its exciting journey."

Brentford are 13th in the Championship, five points off the play-off places.

After losing their first three games following the departure of head coach Dean Smith to Aston Villa, they won for the first time under new boss Thomas Frank on 3 November, beating Millwall 2-0.

Interesting move. Presumably he'll be on very decent money, but he'll certainly be expected to prove his worth. We might be about to discover just how valuable an Irish football 'franchise' can be.... or not.

Genuine question! Why do we need a CEO? What can he do for the club that isn't already been done?

If you think of the general manager role as being operational - day to day running the club - then the CEO role should be strategic- growing the business. Therefore growing Dundalk as a business and a brand.

How we do that is another matter, but if the owners are willing to employ a CEO for that purpose they must believe growth is possible.

Its all explained here
Mike Treacy said: “After a thorough and exhaustive interview process, during which the board have interviewed a number of potential candidates, we are confident that we have found the right person to drive the club forward and help us achieve our goals as a business.
Apart from winning domestic trophies and progressing in Europe, we don't know what the specific "goals as a business" are (queue thunderous criticism from the 'don't be negative brigade')

Aye, Stephen Kenny to return to the club - but as Deputy Assistant Vice Coach.
