Finn Harps v Dundalk l Fri 22 Feb l 8:00pm l Finn Park l Matchday 2

Post by El Paso » Sat Feb 16, 2019 9:19 pm

Does the LSC game against Longford merit a thread? Hopefully McGrath and Flores will be able to play in that one to get some much needed match fitness.

Finn Harps game could be the first time since McGrath signed that we'll see none of Benson, McEleney or McGrath on the pitch for a League match.

Presumably Vinny won't want to make any unenforced changes with two presumably already out. I'd like to see Jarvis come in alongside Shields. Still a side that should be too strong for Harps, but really would like to see us do something about the number of chances we butcher.

Rogers
Gannon-Garts-Hoare-Massey
Shields-Jarvis
Mountney-Murray-Duffy
Hoban

Just for the record, Mondays Leinster Senior Cup game is against Athlone Town, not Longford.

Jamie McGrath is expected to take part so - given the injury situation - if he comes through unscathed after 45 minutes, I would expect him to play #10 with Murray at #6 (against Harps).

Don't forget we have UCD at home the following Monday with Rovers away 4 days later.

Even as I was typing it I knew it was Athlone yet still typed Longford. Brain worms.

Given eyes will soon be on the Rovers game might be best to try out a few things before that. Keep things fresh.

After tonight's result, let's just play our strongest team and get 3 points.

I think he will play Murray as the 6 alongside Shields. This leaves two open positions. Does Mountney keep his place on the right. With the injuries to McEleney and Benson I’d be tempted to keep him on the right. Who goes in as no 10 then. I don’t think McGrath will be fully fit until the Rovers away game.

I can’t see him going 4-4-2 but that’s another option until we get more players back. Pair G Kelly with Hoban and just a flat 4 in the middle.

Duffy - Shields - Murray - Mountney.

Such a pity we are losing two key players in central areas to injuries.

Are many expected to travel up to it?

As of right now my team of choice would still be the one originally suggested:

Rogers
Gannon-Garts-Hoare-Massey
Shields-Jarvis
Mountney-Murray-Duffy
Hoban

Hopefully the match will be going our way and McGrath and Flores can be introduced for match fitness purposes with an eye to Monday and next Friday.

Waiting on international clearance. They haven't said if they have it yet.

I know this is well off topic but is there anything restricting any of the local new outlets or God forbid suffer Republic or the fai, broadcasting matches on Facebook live?

Such a shame that rte show underage rugby and absolute dire women's rugby and eir are showing pro14 B teams playing tonight.

That there isn't a weekly LOI match is a travesty. Even online. I'd watch rovers and Derry. Good match there.

I live in the north and coverage of the nifl is top class with sky sports games bbc games live streming live commentary across all games on Saturdays and at least 3 weekly podcasts dedicated to football they really promote there league, coverage in the loi is very poor in comparison and it won't change anytime soon in my opinion.

I noticed a few games on sky sports alright. There has to be a nice wee pot of money in that for the clubs too. Jesus, BT even show boreham wood and Solihull moors. LOI game is very poorly promoted

LMFM online.

What about streaming sevices? I’ll try Liveskor and 1xbet but there seems to have been a crack down on streaming services over the past few months.

Please post a link if anybody finds this game streamed

I'm a little nervous about this one. If Finn Harps attempt a backs to the wall job I wouldn't be at all surprised if we had another frustrating evening given the amount of chances fluffed last week and the week before. Similarly I'm still concerned about us from set pieces if we do give away dopey fouls. On the other hand if we score early, settle the nerves, we could see it out reasonably comfortably.
