Last Nights Protest

Post by Robbiedundalk2 » Wed Mar 27, 2019 10:24 pm

What are people’s views on last nights protest. A good or bad thing? It’s obviously not a direct Dundalk topic but does affect us and our future

People have the right to protest when a tyrant has surrounded himself with his cronies for the sole purpose of improving his own lot. He’ll try to hang in his job (new name for the role) for the next year until he gets the call up by his buddies to the gravy train that is UEFA.

I thought it was an excellent protest. It was highly visual and was done when game was stopped so it had minimum impact on the game itself.

The last major Dundalk protest was equally as visual. Shedside fans sitting on the wall with their backs to the game. Let's hope we never have to do that again

Did the "They always cheat, they alway lie...." song start at Dundalk? It was weird hearing it belted out by tens of thousands at the Aviva on Tuesday

When was that? What was the circumstance?

I don't recall it - Maybe I have erased anything unpalatable from my memory banks

Cheers. I don't go to many Ireland games, I'd always taken it as a Dundalk thing.

Most LOI fans sing it too.

With respect, this isn't really a "Dundalk Talk" item.

True, but in the context of the ‘problem child’ there’s a relevance. And when you see Delaney driving round the country handing out 100K cheques to junior clubs to buy their loyalty while the FAI give LOI clubs 5K, and in our case refuse to release the UEFA prize money and make us pay to bring the Aviva up to CL standard, then any protest to remove him is good and relevant. The other thing is that protests at LOI matches are counterproductive whereas LOI fans protesting at internationals is good. Remember in San Marino Delaney claimed it was Dundalk fans?

And it wasn't sung by that many. It's been louder in Oriel many times. Says it all about much of the lazy Irish ahem I mean hardcore Irish supporters.

I see Joe Carroll at the Democrat has decided the people protesting with the tennis balls were 'yobs'. Nice reminder of what he really thinks of football fans. If he'd a second brain cell he'd be dangerous, that fella.

I'm not surprised with the revelations that the FAI were making it difficult for Dundalk FC to draw down money awarded to them from UEFA. I am surprised however that nobody is going back as far as 2011, because the exact same thing happened to Rovers after their Europa League run!! I mostly certainly stand to be corrected officially on this but I've a mate who's a rovers supporter, and I remember having a similar conversation about similar carry on that went on circa end of 2012 season.

What an absolute rotten association.
