Dundalk v Cork City | Fri 6 Sept | 7:35pm | Oriel Park | Matchday 30

Post by Ezeikial » Mon Sep 02, 2019 10:30 pm

Cork are coming to Oriel Park on the back of two successive home defeats since Fenn was appointed which in itself follows an embarrassing cup defeat to Galway. Their form and the morale can hardly be lower, but if there is any bit of pride remaining in their players they will want to put it up to us as some sort of mark of defiance.

Fenn is hardly likely to have the red carpet rolled out for him either, but the real issues are about putting in a match winning performance to take another step towards the title. While VP wont admit it he will also have an eye on team selection for Mondays trip to Waterford in the cup.

The league title is getting closer all the time

If it wasn’t Fenn I’d want Perth to put all the eggs in the cup basket. He may still.

I’d like to see Dummigan and Benson get 90 minutes. Garts and Cleary will probably both come back in. Maybe Georgie Kelly too.

Have to say I absolutely love the way we’ve worked the rotation, particularly in defence. Pure guess work, but you’d wonder how Kenny would have done last year in Europe or would he have won a Treble if he hadn’t flogged the same ~12 players all summer and left the rest so undercooked.

Kids in for a euro, free burgers and face painting.
Well done to the club for trying to attract a big crowd on Friday.

Had to check the table it's that long since I've given a shit about what Cork do... FORTY ONE POINTS!!!!1!

Considering they've coughed up six goals in two games under Fenn, you'd imagine their focus will be entirely on spoiling and keeping it tight. But I'd love to think some of the beast mode we saw last night will be on display and we blow them off the park. Last season's points-total record is well within range.

Is there any truth in the rumour that Matthew Tipton will be a guest of the club on Friday night?

It's been a s##t-show of a season but when I saw Fenn's first two games were Sligo and Waterford at home (two teams not much better than ourselves) I was certain he would win at least one of them.
To have lost both is unreal. It's just a case of damage limitation against ye I'd say.

What Fenn did must be on of the most disrespectful actions against the club in its History. I hope he is welcomed and sent home accordingly.

Team news

John Mountney is out for the foreseeable future with a foot injury after surgery on Monday. Sean Murray is out with a knee injury also. Jamie McGrath and Daniel Kelly were withdrawn during the Sligo match on Monday with knocks and both will be assessed before the match tomorrow.

Assuming that Sean Murray, Jamie McGrath and Daniel Kelly are either injured or carrying knocks, and that Dean Jarvis and Robbie Benson are fit, this could be a starting line up

Gary Rogers
Sean Gannon | Brian Gartland | Daniel Cleary | Dean Jarvis
Chris Shields | Robbie Benson
Cameron Dummigan| Patrick McEleney | Michael Duffy
Patrick Hoban

Lido Lotefa and Georgie Kelly could also be in contention while any of Sean Hoare, Andy Boyle and Dane Massey could come in as required

Does anyone know the situation with Flores ?. Not mentioned as being injured but not featuring on the subs bench.
Thought the last few games would be an opportunity to give him game time similar to Benson, or is he another Folan - on the exit bus
