[With thanks to Colin for permission to plug!]
There's a new LoI book out for those interested in that sort of thing. One Night in Dudelange - Adventures in the UEFA Europa League is published by Vision Sports and is the story of UCD's unlikely 2015 European adventure.
It's not so much a UCD book though as a behind-the-scenes look at all areas of the LoI European experience. With quotes from players, coaches, officials and supporters, it looks at the stuff which sounds straightforward (but usually isn't) like going through licensing, scouting opposition and preparing the games, arranging away day logistics (including for the round after the one you're knocked out in) as well as the experience of playing in the games themselves.
But it also covers the more irregular things which make European games so memorable - blackmailing Russian officials, sneaking into VIP areas, ultras and players bumping into each other in Tesco on matchday and, of course, going on the drink. So this should appeal if you've any interest in the big European nights (and ye've had plenty in fairness!)
It was listed in the Sports Book of the Year segment in the Irish Times and the Irish Independent last month, so it's half-way decent!
It's on sale in Dubray's and the UCD campus bookshop (for the exiles), and also on Amazon and from the publisher's website.
