Ireland at 36 in the coefficients. A bit of a surprise to see Liechtenstein in 34th place. Georgia at 46. Napoli found a gem of player in Kvaratskhelia from Dinamo Batumi.

Good to see some slow progress up the rankings. It'll take a lot more progress to make any discernible difference in terms of skipping rounds. Liechtenstein in a funny one. Country ranking is based on the average club score. Only the Liechtenstein cup winners qualify as they don't have their own league. That's always Vaduz (well, 25 of the last 26 seasons), they play in the Swiss second tier. There's one team in the Swiss fourth tier the rest 6th tier or lower. So far this season Vaduz have reached the cup semi-final by winning 18-0 and 8-0.

More ex-Dundalk academy players in the league than I ever remember, with O'Kane, David Odumso, Emmanuel Adegboyega, Andrew Quinn and Jimmy Corcoran all getting serious minutes with different teams. Even Mayowa Animasahun seems to play a fair amount up North.
It also highlights that we would greatly benefit from a 'B' team and Third Tier to allow more time for these players to develop for our first team.

Guess Louie Annesley's illness is pretty rough, it's enough that he's been left out of Gibraltar's squad for the upcoming international break. I guess they were concerned that he hasn't fully recovered yet and don't want to risk other members of the squad being affected.

Apparently he was hospitalised with it. On the mend now according to clubinflikted wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 12:20 pm Guess Louie Annesley's illness is pretty rough, it's enough that he's been left out of Gibraltar's squad for the upcoming international break. That does sound bad. Covid perhaps? Either way hope he's back to full fitness soon, he was settling in quite well before his illness.Martin Lawlor80 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 1:47 pmApparently he was hospitalised with it. Keith Long appointed as Waterford manager. A good appointment, thought they would have looked to the UK again.

Sean you are usually on the money with the euro stuff. DFC have retained 8.5 coefficient which is very important, probably good enough for a club to get seeded in 3 rounds, it will be for 2, now after this weekend we will park our hopes, but the stat is there, the 8.5 should be high for seeded rounds.seand wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 6:43 pm Good to see some slow progress up the rankings. Now the question on who, have you any idea on our likely opponents geography wise, all the usual suspects are below us including Wales, Andora, Malta, Lich, Estonia etc, but a good few leagues are ahead of LOI now like Lux, Finland, Latvia, Lith, Bosnia etc, but a lot will go down to club rankings also.
I note the dates have moved, used to be first thurs in July, but the ECL first round is now Thurs 13th July , so our first games will be 13/07 + 20/07 either h or a.
Draw is 20th June or something like that.

Re: 2023 Season General Thread
I'll update the European thread later, but the first qualifying round will be semi regionalised and we'll likely be grouped with very low ranked teams from the Baltics, Faroes, Iceland, Wales, NI, Luxembourg Finland, maybe Andorra, Malta, San Marino
We would be seeded in second round, probably not in third

So it turns out Louie was in hospital for THREE WEEKS with his infection, but they tried to downplay it in order to give him privacy on the matter. Back in light training but no timeframe for a return yet.

Re: 2023 Season General Thread
He was limping when he crossed the pitch pre game against rovers on Friday. I was wondering why consider it was an infection. Turns out it was an infection of the groin ffs. Never heard of that one. If it wasn’t for bad luck with injuries we’d have no luck
