1 6th of the season review

Post by iloveduffy.com » Wed Apr 21, 2021 11:32 pm

Where to begin?
23 players used
Manager gone
Head coach(Real manager) gone
Gartland out for the season
3 points
3 loses
3 draws
0 clean sheets
No structure
Biggest squad in the league
Biggest budget in the league
Biggest joke in the league
Constantly in the news
Replacements no improvement on players that left
Keeper is brutal
Junior won his contract in a lucky dip
Sonny either banned, quarantined or injured
Okane dropped
Shields overrun
Sloggett in hiding
Stanton goes wandering
Players Constantly injured
Wingbacks swapping sides each game
Defenders making so many mistakes and give ball away
Players don't know who they will be playing beside each week
5 subs a game
So many half time subs
Bill still involved too much
Magilton being off with press
Worst start in 30 years?
Sure we will sign another international
No luck at all
IF and thats a big IF, we had a decent Keeper, our Defenders actually defended and didn't give ball away, our attacker's hit the net instead of the post or crossbar, we would be at least 7 points better off.
Massive improvements needed.
In Kenny we Trust

Great to see the positivity.

All the above issues and only 11 points behind the leaders. Not all doom and gloom. If someone listed all those issues before the season started and offered you to be 11 points off top I would bite their hand off.

We have a lot going on which you have mentioned above but lets see how the next 2 or 3 or 4 games pan out. The fact that we are traditionally 'slow starters' and we had no pre season can also give us hope that things will get better.

Were we not behind by more previously?

As I said give it another few games and see how things are. Too many are far too quick to hit the panic button.

No one will be run away winners with the league this year.

We were 13 behind with 2 games in hand. That's a big difference. We were also bang in form then, winning games at ease, at the top of our abilities, with a starting 11 that picked itself every week. We were going for our 5th title in 6 seasons, whilst rovers were the new kids on the block. Also we were chasing just 1 team, not 3 and we were chasing them from a very decent starting point, not 3rd from bottom. Irrespective of what people thought of Perth he was the manager and the players knew our style of play and could play that system. Fast-forward to today, we have no manager we are on the worst run of form in 30 yrs and we are leaderless on and off the pitch, we are in turmoil on and off the pitch playing a system that doesn't seem to work for us. So there is a massive difference between then and now, and unless something remarkable clicks very soon, we are deep in trouble. Would you not agree?
Dundalk Fc. First Irish club to win points in group stages of a major European Competition.

I get what your saying and we are the same after 6 games this season as we were in 2012 and we know how that went but surely with the quality of squad we have and the fact they are not rushing in to appoint a manager theres no need to have all hope lost.

Next 3 games are very winnable and we have shown in our last 2 games glimpses of how well we can play, we just need to keep that up for longer periods of the game. Imo I dont think all hope is lost just yet personally.
