Don't 🤣. It's on Twitter. Should be on Spotify etc tomorrow. They had John Gill as a guest but he's internet wasn't great.

Yea sorry I’m aware of the irony of me giving out re social media and asking that stupid question.
Was logged on Twitter and thought I’d missed it but it turns
out they were about 15 mins late starting.
Gill on the boat was gas but glad he stuck with it, he had plenty to say

League are not won in April but they can certainly be lost in April. That’s what Dundalk appear to have done..

JR’s report on the game from a national newspaper’s website. Out of 18 paragraphs on the website, 1 was about the actual game.
I read Niall Newberry and Owen Crowizer and both gave a fairly even balance between reporting on what actually happened on the pitch as well as what’s been happening off it this past week. Shieldsy also referenced all the chatter on social media . John Gill had a lot to say on a couple of podcasts, including the Town End, about certain journalists only talking to disgruntled people instead of searching further and maybe finding that the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
Was it Buckley or Bradley who said we were like Man City?
I think we are more like Arsenal, where the Arsenal Fan TV has had such an bad influence.
We have the most expensive squad ever assembled in the league and we're joint bottom. We have a management team that have no experience or qualifications that have three wins in 14 games. We have a chairman that hasn't got a breeze about football running the club into the ground. We have a man in place that we were told was "the Pope of football in Dundalk" that is being told what to say in interviews. We have a crumbling stadium.

Two journalists that are also fans of the club breaking these stories and social media are definitely what's wrong with the club though......

Spinning what John Gill has said as ‘truth is in the middle’ is nonsense. You have deliberately misunderstood him. When Gill says about disgruntled people he’s talking about the people who were slagging off Perth, not the people telling the truth about how the place is being run, because Gill is upset that Dan McDonnell said that Perth had to go for letting Bill interfere in the team. Gill isn’t on your ‘everything would be fine if all the meanies stopped talking about it’ side here.
It fairness this is your own spin on what John said.

You state everything like it is 100% fact. Would do no harm for you to say, ''In my opinion'' or ''my interpretation of what John said is''

I also find it amusing that Dan thinks (and you agree) he knows more about what went on at Dundalk FC than John Gill.

I think Dan is enjoying the mess at the club. Without doubt he is taking pot shots, and I dont consider him a fan. Maybe he was or maybe he is when the going is good.

Lets say Dan decides to write an article about Finn Harps new ground. He states that it is a 5000+ seater, great news (true).
He then states that they will probably never fill the ground (true)
He calls them a yo yo club unlikely to ever get the crowds to justify the expense of the ground (true)
When the ground is built only 1200 people attend the first few home games, says I told you so & repeats that they will never fill their stadium. He continues in this vein every week , and rather than focusing on reporting on the match he reports on the size of the crowd.
This is how you take pot shots while not telling any untruths.

Does it have to be a game of opposites? I think what Gill has pointed out is that for people who take Dans word as absolute gospel (many on here and Twitter) - it is just his opinion, based on information from certain individuals.

Gills final line in that argument is the most important. He called Perth and Gill weak. They weren't. Dan was wrong in this instance, and i would bet my last euro that he is wrong on many other things. Of course he says he has been asked by people to keep shining a light, so he is just a good honest journalist doing a good deed and not trying to sell papers or get clicks.. ;)

His faux Dublin accent on off the ball is enough to make you suspicious of him. Not easy to lose an Ardee accent hey.

And if fans where in attendance, they would be getting a lot worse then being called mario and luigi.

It is a mess. But a journalist can still produce a match report without referencing it every third line.

I un-followed Dan a while ago because I genuinely believe he has a permanent hard-on for anything negative from the club (there are obviously plenty). But anytime a story breaks he is wheeled out as unofficial club expert so there is no getting away from him. Reporters also have a responsibility to be balanced - has he mentioned Zahibo yet?

I lost all respect for mcdonnell. He is constantly sticking the knife into dundalk at every opportunity yes that is his job, yes he is supposed to be impartial, but he constantly kept goading about keegan and fg and who the manager is and it being ghost coaching. It was coming across as if he actually wanted the fai and uefa to enforce fines and European bans on us. He isn't a fan of Dundalk fc, but too many on here think he is God because he founded this forum. So what. He is just another hack now looking for click bait.

Nobody's word should be taken as gospel. I'd like to get some context on why he thinks the previous management team was weak as it wouldn't be something I'd agree with. Was it that they opened the door to behind the scenes interference? That was happening under Kenny's watch too. Marco Tagbajumi...

Isn't that just your opinion also? 😉

I think there is a massive difference between opinions and facts here and it's important for us to make the distinction. We can agree and disagree about opinions all day but there are many many facts that have been presented by many journalists that while are unpalatable as they shine the club in a bad light we'd be foolish to try and stick our fingers in our ears, ignore and hope for the best.
