I un-followed Dan a while ago because I genuinely believe he has a permanent hard-on for anything negative from the club (there are obviously plenty). But anytime a story breaks he is wheeled out as unofficial club expert so there is no getting away from him. Reporters also have a responsibility to be balanced - has he mentioned Zahibo yet?
Look I wouldn't get bogged down in how things are being spun because it just distracts from the bigger picture. Like we have one contributor here whose attempts to put a positive spin on what's going on are a comedy act at this stage. The facts speak for themselves.
But spin is massively important. If by some chance Filippo had turned out to be competent, and we were sitting here with 12/13 points this season, there wouldn't be half the noise there is because it would get no traction, no clicks, no exposure for Dan. Nobody would have the slightest interest in pro licences (like at Pats or like Rovers in the past) or in Bills zoom calls.

Gerry Malone pointed the finger directly at Gavin for the press conference charade. Not Bill , not Jim. Is that true? Because i heard Bill had no idea about it. Did Dan take his mate Gavin to the cleaners over it?

Isn't that just your opinion also? 😉

Well I believe John Gill. He walked away from a contract & he has nothing to gain.

I think there is a massive difference between opinions and facts here and it's important for us to make the distinction. We can agree and disagree about opinions all day but there are many many facts that have been presented by many journalists that while are unpalatable as they shine the club in a bad light we'd be foolish to try and stick our fingers in our ears, ignore and hope for the best.
Nobody is ignoring it.

Mark Tighe is branded a hero by some in Irish football circles for bringing to light the absolute shambles that was going on in the FAI. But for his investigate reporting Deleney could still be in charge. We are small fry and a private business so can't imagine an investigative reporter writing an expose on us so we are left with local and national sports reporters.

People on this forum are asking for non biased reporting well you're not going to get that from Rogers and McDonnell. They are Dundalk fans can see the crap going on behind the scenes and are reporting on it. I'd expect any one of us that had the platform to do the same.

You're asking people not to take journalists word as gospel and then you reference Gerry Malone come on, seriously?

If i took over the club in the morning I wouldn't let him in the gate.

Believe John Gill about what? That he doesn't think he's weak? I think we'd all agree that.

I genuinely don't understand what the argument was about. It's a shame Gill didn't press McDonnell to elaborate. From reading between the lines I think McDonnell was talking about allowing the interference (which I don't agree with) and Gill was defending the on field performances and results. He went into a lot of detail.

If we are critical of those reporting it and want the reporting to stop or reduce I don't see the distinction.

Do you think it's likely that Gavin took the lead on having that press conference and Jim and Shane just went "ok Gavin, we'll do that, sure you're in charge"

Or do you think Gavin maybe was the one who sent out the invites to the press and that's why Gerry might have pinned it on him?
I'm asking you. You know the details of all goings on at the club. You know Gavin.. Ask him.

It is introducing information to the debate from a unreliable source that is wrong a lot more often than right and then asking why a journalist didn't attack one of the few at the club that genuinely love the club based on that information

This is pretty much it from my point of view. I watched him on Off the Ball yesterday and it was 15 minutes of the same thing he’s been saying for months now. Seems to me that if the board got its act together , improved how things are done behind the scenes and we went on to win the league, he’d still be gunning for Peak 6 because his mates have asked him to ‘shine a light’.
Anyway that’s just my opinion about him

It is quite sad & disturbing , the low level this forum has sunk , rock bottom . It should be shut down , I have stopped contributing for some time . The name calling & abuse , the lack of respect for decent people , that give the job 100%.
If Oriel Web want a forum , they need to look at some of the toxic garbage that is allowed . It really has got to a very low level.

To be fair Johnny , it’s quite obvious that there are posters who have polar opposite views on here but as long as it can be kept civil thats ok.
The calling the management names based on what country they come from is disgusting and something I pointed out when they were first appointed and it doesn’t represent any of the decent DFC fans.
Hopefully the mods will delete that guy’s post

Absolutely pathetic response. You think you know so much.
