Interesting to see the cup winners of Lithuania and Luxembourg are straight into round two, but the League of Ireland is ranked 42nd in Europe right now, didn't realise it was quite that disastrous. Really we've been the only club contributing to the league's status in recent years.

First and second rounds draws next week (Jun 15,16)

Sligo should give a good account of themselves in Europe, if they maintain the good form.
Derry had a disappointing defeat last year in Lithuania after extra time, Bohemians knocked out in Hungary.
Shamrock Rovers as unseeded team met Milan ,after beating the Finnish team on penalties.

Dundalk had a nice draw to the group stages. Shamrock Rovers lack a quality finisher for Europe, maybe they will do business in July.
Maybe the likes of Jurkovskis and Sam Stanton will show their quality in Europe. Good technical players

When you look back Sean, last few years, and remember its really only wins that count for coefficient, draws are a tiny contribution, who else has even won a game recently? In saying that we only won 2 in 2020, but at least that added to the figure.

Bit of a rundown on the Conference draw tomorrow, whatever sort of team they will have by the time the games are played.

Means nothing, I'd fancy quay celtic to beat us atm so everyone of those clubs be licking their lips at the prospect of drawing us.

Despite everything, I think we can still put a good first 11 on the pitch. Maybe 10. Might not be overcooking it to say that the future of the club depends on how we do in Europe this summer.

I would say that it has more to do with qualifying for next year. Going 3 or 4 rounds this year won't mean much if we have no European football next year. At least if we have it secured for next season then it keeps us attractive for new owners and/or makes it easier than rebuilding from scratch. I really hope it's absolutely clear to a new manager that Europe this year is secondary to finishing in a qualification spot.

Good point. I'm worrying about the debt spiralling but of course knowing we're in next year makes a big difference to a realistic budget for any new owners

Even being shite we should have enough to raise ourselves for Europe and beat any of these. Honka might be tricky, Welsh League is LoI First Division level (and Newtown finished 7th), the Maltese and Macedonians have never qualified before!

Newtown of Wales. Certainly a favourable draw. Not much travelling.

Great to be an optimistic Dundalk fan for once.
