Big loss for them as he is one of the players that can hurt us.

There is an interview with Zahibo on the club website now. From the sounds of that he's going nowhere and keen to play. Hopefully he is the player that his wage justifies and the loss of Shields isn't as bad as I'm fearing.

He might be keen to play but he has six internationals in Africa between 31 August and mid November so will be missing for probably 8 of our last 11 league matches.

I can't see that, why would they do this v waiting to end of the season when he's free? Unlike Linfield they have no euro money to pay for transfers like this.

As for tomorrow nights game (what a shame it clashes with the Italy v Belgium match, exact same time too), I wonder is there anything in the battle in MF with Patching in fine form all season, and up for POTM again I see, v Towell who will be having his first competitive game? I'd be hoping our man will be the fresher.
It wouldn't be like Derry would be breaking the bank if they paid a fee. He's out of contract in November so it would only be a minimum fee. More chance of Derry getting European football for next season with a player like McEleney.

Both Boyle and Nattestad are doubts for tomorrow, I hope we've recalled Andrew Quinn because we'll be struggling at centre half.

Got a ticket for tomorrow. Really looking forward to it I have to say, it's been a long time waiting!

P.S. If anyone wants me to shout abuse at any Rovers player on their behalf, just send me a PM with the message and player in question and I'll try to squeeze it in.

Congrats, great game to get!

On a wider note, not to be a killjoy and I might get abuse for this , but I think it’s important to point out that this is a so-called ‘test’ fixture with regards to future easing of restrictions around fans at games.
This shouldn’t be treated like the usual away trip to Tallaght.
If private buses etc are being organised , this has the potential to lead to Covid outbreaks and that’s the kind of thing public health will absolutely be focusing on!

Got a ticket myself, email was in my junk folder!

Really looking forward to this but will be weird driving up by myself instead of the bus a few drinks!

Same here. I live in Dublin so will just drive over rather than usually having a few pints in town after work and getting the Luas out. Will be a very different feel alright.

I think it's a fair point. It looks like there is some private bus(es) being organised. Really hope they follow the guidelines and are seated apart and wearing masks etc. The last thing we want is a test case to fail and sport in the country to remain with limited supporters because of Dundalk fans on a bus.

Shocking the total apathy towards the club at the moment. 2 hrs to kick off against our biggest rivals. The first fixture you look out for every season and the biggest post we get today is with the weekends underage fixtures!! Ffs all the negativity on here and the bloody protests are doing more harm than good.
Anyway onto the game, there is major concern if we have no fit cb's going into the game. Especially now we no longer have shields to slot in. Rovers are no great shakes at the moment but having 900 fans behind them and the towell factor may be key. Let's hope the Vinny factor is good enough to drive us on to taking something from the game.
Dundalk Fc. First Irish club to win points in group stages of a major European Competition.

The lack of posts on this forum about the match is because of the protests? Ok.

Like the look of the team. Good consistency. Good to see Patching in. Sloggett has a big job tonight. Hopefully centre backs are 100%. Sonni still a weak link imo.

Lack of posts are more likely due to the way the forum has gone. It's never been at such a low point. A lot of negativity, and jumping down peoples throats for daring to have a different opinion. I think one of the forums feet is in the grave at the moment.

But on the match...is the commentary low for everyone? I found the sound was ok when the commentators weren't on.

I am not sure Towell will do much. I don't think he is the player he once was.

Sound quality is very low ..... once half time comes on it will blow our ears off. Something which seems to be a problem on a few streams.

Towell ..... great lad ... long way to go .....
