Is he alone? What did duffy and fats do?

Not a lot either Niall. Another feature of this season but you win and lose games in the middle of the park.

Rovers certainly raised their game on recent weeks and we just didn’t have any answers. Too many ordinary players in too many positions. Big challenge for Vinny now to achieve anything with what he has inherited.

Not good enough. Substitutions are baffling and most of the players not offering enough today. Look at the hunger and pressing of the rovers players that's where we need to be and unfortunately we're miles off.

Good first half from Dundalk. I was dissappointed with both full backs, they offered very little going forward and were very suspect defensively. The substitutions weakened Dundalk, Kelly was poor when he came on, and playing Hoban deep is a waste of time.

Perth has his work cut out to get this team up the table, but we are playing better football than earlier in the season.

Yeah they never stopped, played as a team whereas we played as a group of individuals. Too many ego's in that dressing room I think.

Cant understand why stanton was taken off. Leahy very poor. We have no creative spark. We need a fats and duffy of 5 yrs ago. We badly need a s&c coach who knows what he is at, as we are clearly lacking in fitness.

Shamrock Rovers are well coached, they all know their roles. They have good pace to break the lines. Hoban is a good player but lacks pace. Patching looked a bit lost. Didn't look like the player playing with confidence at Derry, but he's only back with Dundalk a few days

The forum was quiet this week because Vinny has steadied the ship, we had a few good results and things have quieted down off the field. I knew if we were beaten tonight the posts would pick up again, they always do after a defeat.
Having said that , I can’t disagree with most of the comments so far.
Leahy is an interesting case. He was dropped by FG and JM and there was calls for him to be put back in , esp by one local journalist. However, from what I see , he’s liable to make a costly error every game, such as tonight and against the drogs at home. His crossing tonight was woeful ( so was jurovkis’ as well). There’s a good player in there and he’s young so maybe he needs more coaching . I thought Zahibo passed the ball forward when he could and knitted the play together to a certain extent.
We looked laboured all over the part alright.
Positives were that Abibi did nothing wrong and but for a ridiculous decision, we should have been 2 0 up. We are playing better than earlier in the season but we now need to put another run together.

Cant understand some of that ...... players didnt look up for it, looked tired and that with a week of preperation.
Stanton, our best midfielder, fully of running being taken off ..... lets hope he was feeling something
Fats being left on, whilst Patching was lost on the wing ..... Fats off at half time, Patching in the middle and Kelly on the wing
Duffy ..... would have whipped him and put on McMillan or Han .... the lad was a no show second half.
Leahy was muck from start to finish

On a positive note ......
Alessio didnt let himself or us down tonight, was solid enough. Boyle put his body on the line and Raivis was OK, think we should not under estimate Patching playing infront of him in a position he obviously isnt comfortable in. Stanton played very well as did goldy locks with the tan before going off injured.

The people who posted about the game before the game are the same people who have posted about the game after it.

Patching on RW tonight? Prob doesn’t want to be stuck out there but it’ll be headache for Vinny to fit him and Fats in the same team.

Leahy is a weak link at left back. I've no idea why Perth thinks he's a better option than Dummigan
Dummigan originally went north on loan because Vinnie preferred Leahy. For me Dummigan over Leahy was one of FG's better decisions. Hopefully we will still be in it by the time he comes on.
I think Dummigan was signed as a right back. It was Gannon kept him out. Don’t think Vinny ever tried him left back first time around. Perth intended replacing Massey with Leahy.

Leahy has gone backwards with us. A young player like that that’s more on us than him. Like Patching at Derry he’ll probably be great for his next team.

Really disappointing second half. No point playing Patching on the right, I think it's time to drop Fats and give Patching a run in the team in his preferred position to try and get the performances he put in at Derry.

Leahy and Jurkovskis very poor defensively. No way Jurkovskis is putting it in, no international can be that poor, but the frustrating thing is there's a player there. Leahy is so nieve in his play.

A couple of mentions of Abibi and I agree he has certainly improved but I don't think he would have made the save Mannus did and that's the problem we have now settled for no howlers.

Sonni still doesn't look interested. Another international not bothering.

Not sure where we go from here. Even new signings will need time to settle. Back to depressing starts to weekends.

Maybe we don't try to fit them both in. Maybe it is timw to drop fats. It looks like he is away at the end of the season anyway, so plan for it now and bed someone new in his role. Europe is an outside longshot chance for next season, so plan for next season now. Play the likes of Ryan O'Kane and Val. Get them the much needed match experience they need now. It is an improvement in ways, but there is a major overhaul required if we are to challenge next season.
