Newtown AFC v Dundalk | ECL QR1 Leg 2 | Tuesday 13 July 2021 ko 17.45

No such thing as a foregone conclusion, although on the analysis side we probably learned more about them than they did about us, given that were are plenty of videos around about Irish sides. A win with another clean sheet is certainly achievable, and would be good for both team confidence, and the Country Coefficient.

If there is another departure over the weekend, we are starting to look a bit light in midfield with either Sloggett or Zahibo down to start on Tuesday. Covid is the unknown factor here. Has everyone come through clear last night? Will the players missing for Newtown or Dundalk have any chance of making the game on Tuesday?

If anyone gets word on streaming of the game please share the info.

I'm not going to put a hex on this by starting another thread but IF we were to make it to the next round, where would you prefer to see the home leg (22 July) played? Oriel Park or the Aviva? The Stjarnan/Bohemians winners play opposite the winners of our tie in R2, so their home leg is not until the 29 July.

I heard Bohs success in selling 6,000 for the Aviva means we might try do it too?

Two weeks isolation means players aren’t available surely and that’s presuming they don’t get symptoms to keep them out longer. Jack Byrne got whacked by it, remember. If he changes the 11 I’d expect to see Sloggett. Zahibo showed zero interest when he came on last night.

Depends on the cost of renting Lansdowne. No point in making a loss. It would be great for all fans to be able to get to see the game

No idea but good point. It'd say most fans would pay extra to get to a game, I know I would. €30 doesn't seem too expensive when you haven't been to a live game in 18 months.

Bohs were 30 quid for the good seats and 20 quid after that. Don't know if they had cheaper kids tickets

I sent them a message this morning asking for details. As soon as I get a reply I will update on here. TNS' home leg against Glentoran on Thursday (in the same ground) is being streamed on PPV so I would like to think something will be sorted out. Cost may be an issue however, as Newtown won't want to commit to streaming unless they were sure of getting enough subscribers to at least break even. With them being 4-0 down, only die hard home fans are likely to watch. It may come down to DFC providing some kind of guarantee in the event that not enough of us sign up.
