Why dont users have the option to delete their own post or even like given 24 hours to delete a post?
Could a 'Thanks MOD' be added to this forum, like take boards.ie forum for example they added this option recently and it has worked out great it shows people agreeing with someone's post when out the need to add a reply. I did a quick search online for this mod and found this http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=1690905 it is not the same style as boards.ie and foot.ie though they are running on the vBulletin platform and this forum is running on the phpBB one.

Re: Thanks & delete option
Personally I don't like the delete option. I think it allows users to create a sh*t storm and remove all trace of the fact that they were responsible. I can't see the benefit of it to outweigh this negative, but if there is one I'm all ears!
I do like the idea of an agree function, like the "like" option on facebook. It cuts down on useless posts by quite a lot and can add to a discussion where people can see clearly how many/who agrees with a point of view without trawling.

Yes I would agree about people trying to cover their ass on a bad post but sure I an still edit posts I made months ago!
On some forums there are timers like 24 hours to delete/edit a post even if it was an hour it would be great.
I very much dislike the "thanks" mod on irishleaguesupporters.com where it shows the date of the "thanks" which I think is unnecessary.

Re: Thanks & delete option
Fair enough, but if you edit a post it records that you did that and when at the bottom of the post. I don't see the value in being able to delete a post, why would you want to do that?

Double posting (which isnt even deleted by the mods),
posting in the wrong section (which you would have to PM a mod to delete or to move a post and even then you have to wait for them to come online)
or even deciding against a post shortly after posting it.

I'd love to see the "I agree" function. It's on the Spurs forum I visit & works great. It saves from having to waste time going into read unread posts on threads with posters just posting "I agree". Sometimes its as if posters do that just to up their posts tally.
Wouldn't have a clue how to add it to this forum, but I'm sure somebody would know

Re: Thanks & delete option
The thing about thanks and I agree options are that they don't actually add anything to the thread. Isn't it all about the discussion and different points of view? I have used them on other boards all right but not convinced that they bring anything constructive to threads.

How about a thanks option now duffman? Think it could be useful instead of having to post up thank you or whatever or is it still a no?

Re: Thanks & delete option
If they are so bad then why do most of the big forums and site like Facebook use them? Take for example boards.ie the thanks option looks very well and its very easy to read a big topic as you can just skip to the post with the most thanks.
Had a look online here and found a MOD which can be added for the like button

The thanks option would be good to have if brought in, on sites like foot.ie/boards/pats forum etc..
