Dundalk v Waterford 11/6. 7.45pm

Post by Johnnybegood33 » Mon May 31, 2021 2:25 pm

Looking forward to this game , on the back of a great away win , in Richmond . Itโ€™s a couple of weeks away , a lot can happen . Good for all to have a break . I see in The Daily Mirror , Rudhari Higgins is comparing Will Patching to Matt Le Tissier , but is resigned to having him for another three weeks . Will be a big addition when he returns , maybe for Shamrock Rovers on 1st July.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

In regards to Patching, Wouldnt it be great for him to carry on his form and be the difference in the rovers game that gets us the win, especially considering its more than likely Towells debut for them.

Well , on the evidence of the Rovers & Pats games , there is not a lot wrong . As I said before , can be easily fixed . Patching could be key . We all accept , we need a top keeper , the likes of Richie Blackmore or Gary Rodgers , would do nicely . Playing Mc Millan & Hoban up front , was a master stroke & says a lot about the football brain of Jim Magilton. To see the cool assassin Pat Hoban , look up from the corner flag , slide rule pass to Mc Millan , roof of the net finish , game over . โ€œ Hop on the bus , donโ€™t need to discuss much โ€œ. Cmon the Town โ€œ. Weโ€™re back.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I think Patching gained confidence at Derry by being their main man. The play goes through him, free kicks, corners, penalties and always look to him in open play.
At Dundalk it could be McEleney, or Duffy, or even Sean Murray.
Will he be as effective if not given all the responsibility ?

Will any of those 3 still be with us in January? Will Patching is only 22 if good enough and the desire is there from him, then build the team around him. No player's previous glory days are relevant, only the here and now.

Agree, 22 years of age, tie him down to a longer contract and build a team around him IF he can replicate his form for us until season end.

That's true, then again Patching might not be keen on returning but he's a Dundalk player.
Tying him down to a longer deal so at least if an English club came in they would get a decent fee

I suppose itโ€™s a positive that his name doesnโ€™t set off alarm bells in my head. Unless I have mentally blanked prior experiences.

I see Chris Shields is suspended tomorrow night for 5 yellows. I know we are in serious trouble with centre halves but just as well to get this out of the way now. A fifth booking tonight would have left him out of Drogheda(A) which will be a much tougher prospect. Sonni can't be fit enough to start, so I would imagine Jurkovskis will move inside, with Dummigan switching sides and Adedokun getting another run. Hopefully he will have learned a lot at the u19s camp. It will be interesting to see if JM goes with 2 strikers again. Much as I think McEleney is wasted on the wing he is, by fa country mile, our most creative player. I would be happy to leave Kelly on the bench for the first hour and unleash him when they are starting to tire. I also think Abibi will get the nod over Cherrie, in the hope that they can still turn him into a decent keeper. Even if they get in a new No 1, someone has to stay as backup.

Abibi
Dummigan Jurkovskis Boyle Adedokun
McEleney Sloggett Stanton Duffy
McMillan Hoban

I would like to see O'Kane get a run at some point tomorrow night, and see if he learned anything at the international camp as well.

Jurkovskis playing for Latvia tonight. I don't think he'll start, though on the last International break he played 3 games inside a few days.

Hoban and McMillan should get a few games to together, link up very well.

Leahy an U21 international not even figuring there says a lot about everything, including maybe the player himself.

I think the elite Sports people were exempt depending on the level from where they were coming from

Then surely the clubs should be allowed refuse travel if the player has to quarantine for 2 weeks everytime they go on international leave.
