Wasn't aware of that OF, Bellurgan v MuirhevnaMor on at the same night as Dundalk v Shelbourne, would have had a big effect, maybe also Easter hols.

I've been hearing this from loads of people, zappers not recording, so we can assume a few hundred then off most 'official crowds' upwards.

Avg in bold, we just can't see to get north of this 3k guys, or do people think the scanning is still not 100%?

Yeah scanners hardly ever beep, I'd imagine it's due to people getting tickets on their phones ie screen brightness not being the best in sunlight.

If they could release a figure of actual tickets sold then it would give a more accurate number of attendance.

Ok so this makes sense now, in a bad way, as crowds are under reported then. You can always tell if there are 2 or 3 rows behind the town goal, there it will be over 3k, which it was in my view on Friday v Pats.

I'd have gone with 3,100- 3,200?

Figures updated on P1 after Rovers home game last Fri.

Crowd of 3,409 taking the attendances to date up to 28,696 with an average of 2,870.

My take is still for some reason and not sure why, these are not accurate figures, its just something I`m interested in, but dozens are telling me their ST cards are not scanned / scanned properly. Also it did seem closer to 4k v 3.5, and I think last Fri was actually a bigger crowd than the prev meeting which was on a Monday, and for that game DFC reported 137 more.

Anyone else think recent crowds are being under estimated, or are these about right ? Its just the scanner thing not beeping that people are saying that is suggesting its in fact prob more at games.

One thing not for dispute, our crowds this season after 1.5 horrible years are bang on.

With 2,241 announced for UCD last Fri, figures updated on P1.

Interesting to note this was almost 200 higher than the first UCD game earlier in season, but taking away Rovers support for last home its about 800 home fans deciding not to go to this game, the bad evening with heavy rain wouldnt have helped.

Our avg is holding steady.

Fri 01/07 - UCD....................................2,241.......30,937.....(2,812)

Figures updated on p1, lowest of the season, with so many on hols not unexpected, but I remember a few in SK era that dipped under 2k the very odd time, good to see 2k+ maintained.

Fri 22/07 - Finn Harps...........................2,016.......32,953.....(2,746)

The average is dipping a little, but that's both UCD and FH games now gone, and Derry, Shels, Drogs, Pats, Sligo and Bohs all to visit, to be fair all maybe bar Sligo take decent away support so we should be looking at up to 3k most of these, and 3k+ for next league game v Derry.

Heard Tiernan Mulvenna reference on Pressbox that Muirhevnamor v Quay was on last night also? Don't know the politics involved here but seems absolutely mental.
Allowing for that and holidays over 2k v Finn Harps is respectable enough.

This is a regular stunt pulled by the NEFL. Muirhevna Mór v Bellurgan was played the same night as our win against Rovers on 17 June. I can't believe the local clubs would ask for this.

Unfortunately it is the same with juvenile matches more so in the gaa. We just have to accept it alas. You have from U10 all the way up through the adult ages and post covid everyone trying to get their own codes matches in. There are matches and training for all the various sports realistically going on 7 days a week. I had to suck it up and miss a few matches earlier in the season due to juvenile gaa matches on at 7 on a Friday night.

Was thinking about this a few weeks ago and asked myself ...
  • Fastfix over the years have always been very good to local clubs etc. with sponsorship
  • Statsports - main sponsors of Louth GAA
Would it not be on the agenda for the local football clubs to try and promote DFC, sure money would filter down if they were developing players for LOI or maybe Europe. They could claim youth development fees if transfer fees were paid. Our owners have been very good to these clubs over the years, surely it would make sense for all to sit down and find a a way to make everyone happy.

As for the GAA .... very short sited in my opinion, surely working with the owners of your main sponsor would benefit everyone. Wonder if Louth GAA would now consider a ground share with StatSports on board?

GAA - and other sports - I understand, but football I don't. I didn't think the Schoolboys League were guilty of this, considering how often they are looking for something from the club. The NEFL are a different kettle of fish. They try to make out they cater for the whole of the North East when they really are just a Meath league. You wouldn't believe the lengths they went to in order push through a name change from MDL to NEFL, after an official request was refused by the powers-that-be.
