The way we are struggling in the centre I'd look to play mountney lewis and ur pick then..can macari play in centre with mountney on right ?

From reading reports in Daily Mirror , & Cork Examiner our defence had gaping holes & we did well to get out of Wexford & in to next round. Last week Rovers exploited us with three similar goals . So Stevie knows all about sorting out our defence big time . Is Andy Boyle losing pace , is he turned to easy . What’s up with our defence . 😳😳

Deserved to lose in normal time. Deserved to win in extra time.
We have problems.

Would a sweeper at the back be the answer , how was it back in the day , nobody could skin our centre backs , it was a brick wall , Mc Connville , Keeley , Dunning , & Lawlor - TAKE ME BACK 😎😎 & of course Martin Lawlor.👍

Unfortunately we’re playing with an unintentional sweeper in Shepard, who ever is telling them to play the high line needs a slap and hopefully that will help us in the shot term.

Think Sheppard playing as a sweeper is completely intentional but it’s high risk stuff. Need to acknowledge recovery pace isn’t there and drop the line 15 yards if you’re looking for a simple solution but you then give teams more time at the back. Playing a sweeper means changing the system entirely which I’d say Stevie be reluctant to do. Defo have issues as some have said just hope you’ve enough there to secure Europe, I don’t really care how

Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think we were playing *such* a high line earlier in the season? Yes we were always playing offside and pretty high but not so high as the last two games?
Our lack of pace to play this high line is being highlighted by many fans, on all platforms ( a podcast made to 2 direct tweets about it last night) but I’d point out another danger with it: the utter incompetence of LOI officials! I wouldn’t trust a LOI linesman or woman to get all the offsides correct in a game and I think that happened for one of the goals versus rovers
A dangerous game to play in our league

We are missing that commanding presence in the centre, Cleary last year, Connolly up to July this year, Boyle has lost a yard of pace, I'm really not convinced with Robbie McCourt, and Same Bone can be hot and cold, overall the options are not great in such a key area. Garts back on the bench was great to see, but what will his fitness be like when he's called upon, plus he is lacking obv game time, but to counter that he reads the game brilliantly and has the experience.

I don't understand why young Mayota was allowed leave on loan, he was outstanding in the cup replay v Finn Harps last year. We just seem to be making so many self inflicted mistakes and making things harder than it should be, and the manager also needs to look at his tactics, for the second game on the trot we were turned over with this ridiculous high back line, that is clearly not working.

Lucky to win in the end, but move on, into the last 8 and that's all the matter I suppose.
