Bottom line is Niall, they knew they had fitness/injury problems last year, so they should have taken steps to prevent them. Likewise, they knew the pitch was shit .... big part of the reason the players were training on the Quay Celtic pitch. What are they doing with all the stats our owners gather.niall_hearty2000 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 3:13 pmI think we are being slightly over critical. How many guaranteed starters were we missing? Bottom line is we need to play hoban but he isn't fully fit and failing that sign a better striker than we currently have.Louth4sam wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 1:21 pmHe must be the only one holding that opinion. We had plenty of the ball yes but did nothing at all with it when we got to the final third.GC. wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 10:37 am Yeah, couldn’t have done much more….I’ll have some of what he is on. He also said 'it was a good penalty'.......... we MISSED it, plus its the 3rd diff player to miss a peno this season.holidaysong wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 12:38 pmThat's a completely baffling take on things.GC. wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 10:37 am Yeah, couldn’t have done much more….I’ll have some of what he is on. Jesus Christ SOD !!!! why can't he see it we struggled to break down 10 men for almost 80 mins, almost criminal we couldn't have taken advantage and won that game, missing pens is just unacceptable under these situations when a team is down to 10.
Have to say it was quite depressing in the end how we dealt with the game, yes we had 7 or so out, but lads, there was enough bodies on the pitch who should have stepped up.
I'm still backing SOD, but he has got to do better, a lot better, and still I`m asking what exactly does Cregg bring to the table? I'd have preferred Mackey.
End of the day its 2 points taken from the last 18 on offer, that is just deplorable.

Re: Shelbourne v Dundalk 21 April
Fitness issue is the biggest problem. Whoever I'd in charge of this needs to called in. Ucd should have bet us on opening night wnd probably would have if there was another 5 mins played that night. They are paying peanuts for everything and effectively you reap what you sow. If we draw a Mickey mouse team in a warm country in Europe we are buggered and will fall apart in a second half.
On the game, our passing is muck. Has been all season. Our set plays are worse have been all season. Nobody who plays on a wing fof us can cross a bloody ball, again same issue since ucd game. Nobody can or will shoot, again, same issue since first game.
I don't know what's going on with okane but last year he was coming on, beating his man every time and whipping in good ball where we nabbed a few goals late in games, likewise with ward. Neither can beat a man this year. Neither can even beat a first man with any sort of cross or drill of the ball. What exactly are they working on in training, late and high bloody tackling?

Re: Shelbourne v Dundalk 21 April
4 days on from the game, I`m still quite annoyed at the performance + result.
As it was on rte a good few additional folk mentioned it to me also saying they were very surprised we didn't take advantage of the 10 men.
The missed pen was just ridiculous, granted these guys are not on massive money but a lot of them would be clearing decent wedges per week, and most would be on good to avg money for LOI PD. Overall the performance was just unacceptable. Its becoming a little tiresome too the same tone from SOD after these games.
This was a golden chance to for 3 points, missed.

Penalty wasn't missed, it was saved and a decent save as well. It happens, you'd swear we were the first team this has happened to.mike wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 9:09 pm 4 days on from the game, I`m still quite annoyed at the performance + result.

Was the result good? No. Was the performance good? No. So what do we do? Well I know what I will be doing, moving on, getting behind the players and SOD tonight. A win tonight and Monday makes a big difference on the table.
So as hard as it is for most Dundalk fans, maybe park the negativity and get behind the team. You can go back to whining at 9:40 pm

Brilliant post. On another day we would have taken all 3 points. Remembering their keeper made a few excellent saves. We have been absolutely ravaged with injuries in recent matches. A very possible if not essential 6 points coming up. Get behind the lads and be that twelfth man. It really makes a dirrerence to the players on the pitch.

No, and I can't stand this, you either score or you miss, same as this nonsense % b/s stats that prob came from emergence of PL in England, only stat that matters is goals !!!magarnagle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 2:28 pmPenalty wasn't missed, it was saved and a decent save as well. Robbie missed the pen, he didn't score........................for those of certain vintage Timoffe missed for Romania v Ireland in Italia 90. End of the day we struggled badly for 75 mins v 10 men (and then went behind).

If you listen to George Hamilton's commentary is it not "Bonner saves"? As you say the only stat that matters is the fulltime score.mike wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 12:53 amNo, and I can't stand this, you either score or you miss, same as this nonsense % b/s stats that prob came from emergence of PL in England, only stat that matters is goals !!!magarnagle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 2:28 pmPenalty wasn't missed, it was saved and a decent save as well. Re: Shelbourne v Dundalk 21 April
You're entitled to your opinion of course but don't agree with that at all. If it's off target it's a miss, if it's on target and the keeper saves it, well then it's a save. Anything else is just a complete disregard for the keeper.mike wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 12:53 amNo, and I can't stand this, you either score or you miss, same as this nonsense % b/s stats that prob came from emergence of PL in England, only stat that matters is goals !!!magarnagle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 2:28 pmPenalty wasn't missed, it was saved and a decent save as well. When Sheppard saved the penalty against Drogheda I didn't hear too many calling it a miss or congratulating Sheppard on forcing the player to miss.
