All clubs in the League made a few loans. Kenny and Poom at Rovers. Ollie O Neill at Derry. Pat's brought in 3 or 4,kreida.
Dundalks signings were all from UK which can make it a more difficult as none have experience of the League

Another shit show performance where the result will cover over the cracks. Not good enough on many fronts. you would have to ask yourself what they are doing all week between games or if 90% of the training staff show up on match nights only. They got away with it last year, played the auld we had no time card following the takeover ... this year .... what is the excuse? Has the squad improved? Have the results improved? Has anything improved?

Re: Dundalk v Drogheda
Thinking about this myself, but to be fair we had a left full and a 50/50 choice as the pair in central defence, and a central MF man at left back, only Davies would really be an auto choice in his position, so half of the back 4 not first choice. My two would be Boyle and Annesely, but Williams and even taking into account his shocking red card v Derry, and possibly missing the ball for Derry equaliser, still there is a player in him in my view.Gearóid Bellew wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 10:55 pm That was little short of an abysmal performance against a ten men Drogheda team, I can not see Nathan Shepperd wanting to stay around when he is being left under pressure from stupid defensive mistakes, his frustration was clearly visible tonight.
At 2:1 up against ten things really should have been put to bed but it honestly looked like Dundalk were the one's down to ten & Drogheda looked more likely to score and after that more likely to win it.
The upsides, Hoban came alive after scoring, Ryan O'Kane was fantastic, three points is still three points.
We just need to back this result up with a win away to UCD and move on, then hope more players are available.
PS Davies was excellent last night for the winning goal, it was his probing run that lead to it.

They could be a few place higher but they weren't going to be competing for the league. Its not the Kenny era. Derry City are now a force with Philip Dohertys money. Shamrock Rovers are well backed with Dermot Desmond and another investor,Pepsi wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 1:43 pm Another shit show performance where the result will cover over the cracks. Fighting with Sligo Rovers, Shelbourne, Pats for the 4th spot is the realistic aim with that Squad.

You do know that we finished 3rd last season, out performing many well established squads?Pepsi wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 1:43 pm Another shit show performance where the result will cover over the cracks. We're a team very low on confidence. You haven't mentioned any of the signings and re-signings which probably hasn't relevance to the point I think you are making which I agree with. Our tactics are all wrong and our game management is non existent. We played against ten men for most of the Shels game and a chunk of the game against Drogs and we easily could have lost both games. We need a lot of improvement and a bit more drive in midfield. It's ironic that we're managed by a lad who was the type of player that would see us ripping a team with ten men apart. I'm not sure why this isn't transferring to the dugout to the pitch.Pepsi wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 1:43 pm Another shit show performance where the result will cover over the cracks. There are still some positives to take from the game. Hoban performance shows how much we have missed him. He's not at 100% but Hoban at 60% is still better than most of the league. Paul Doyle on bench again and got another couple of minutes. O'Kane showed for the first time this season why we were so excited about him last year. He also grew in confidence as the game went on. Archie Davies was excellent at right back and has cemented that position as his own after bit of challenge between himself and Muller. An injury time goal regardless of what happened in the previous 90 minutes can do wonders for a teams morale. You could see what it meant to the players with the celebrations as the final whistle went. If we can pick up another win against UCD and get some bodies back especially in the heart of defence and midfield I'd be expecting to see some improvement.

Yet again fitness a massive issue. A part time 10 men out ran and out played our so called 11 full timers, despite the end result.

I think there is just more fight in Drogheda but yes the past four or five seasons our fitness levels have been very poor
