Dundalk v Bohs

I guess it shows that the forum, like most internet forums, is on its last legs, when there wasn't even a match thread for the Bohs game. Frustrating game, probably our best 45 minutes followed by a hugely disappointing second half. Outmuscled by a very mediocre Bohs side.

It's hard to pinpoint what exactly the problem is. Maybe a lack of leadership in defence and midfield and a bit of smarts on closing a game out. We were decent for 70 minutes of that game and very comfortable. Once they got their goal we absolutely panicked. Thought O'Donnell was very late subbing off a clearly injured Williams who could barely run in the last five minutes.

I’m beginning to wonder how SOD feels about his situation . Surely he was sold a good project in order to leave pats and now he finds himself at a club which obviously doesn’t have a competitive budget. He is a young manager who needs to be a success here. Where does he go if things don’t go right for him here? Not sure there’d be a queue of clubs, same with Tim Clancy. They are young and pretty much unproven managers. I feel sorry for him as I don’t think he’s getting what was promised but looking at the accounts from last year, it looks like the owners have no money

Re the first point I am in the same boat. All very frustrating and you would have to wonder what is going on internally. Either he was sold a donkey or the problem is self made. I just dont know, sometimes I feel the players are not the right balance for the tactics he wants to play or is it the tactics dont fit to the LOI opposition.

On the second point, I think we may all find that SS as a company are using us as a tax object indirectly. It might fit the SS books for us to be making a loss. I would however like to know what equipment they paid for ... think it was approx. €300k from memory.

This is the core problem we have, we are down to 2 new players both playing such key positions, and every week in Muller and Williams. If we had Boyle and Annesely we could have rotated by now, but we can't and they are clearly feeling the pressure, hopefully Williams can stay fit as how can we cope with 3 CD's out, we are just about coping as it is.

Then take the MF, its all attack, no one capable who is fit of sitting deep, this only adds pressure to the already stretched defence once we lose the ball.

Just look at the names all out, Boyle / Annesely / Benson / Sloggett, then we don't know extent of Leahy or Tulloch and not to mention probably gone for the season Mountney. Thats at least 5 auto starters, possibly more.

Part of the problem is the fitness levels. seem to be hanging on in second half of most games, even against 10 men drogs!

This is just the frustration in me talking I suppose.
Sean Connor has been always been very honest about the fact that they are looking for investment.
Maybe if we the fans hadn’t freaked out and chased Hull out the door, some of their money could have been used for recruitment and a new pitch.
We , the fans, need to accept investment is going to come with some conditions and if those conditions are not too outlandish we are going to have to accept them if Dundalk are ever going to progress.

Ultimately it was owners choice not to persue the Hull City deal. Shelbourne had been in talks with Hull but that doesn't seem to be progressing. Owners aren't going to pump in a load of money without a return. Dundalk need a nee pitch which will cost big money, expecting new owners to cover that and splash out on new players is a bit pie in the sky
