The irony in this but it’s true…

Fag pack numbers

It must cost nearly €1.5m to open the doors of oriel before we kick a ball

20 players at minimum wage is 600k, plus managers and support staff must take wage bill close to €1m and that’s being modest. Add in cost of PRSI, Insurance, affiliations and maintenance plus cost of running underage teams in boys and girls and we are not far off it.

20 home games per annum at 2000 average home crowd (€10 per head average) €600k gate receipts, Add in sponsorship, profit from merchandising sales and match programmes etc possibly another €250k.

I’m guessing the shortfall for investors is 6-700k approx and that’s with players on min wage, we know some are on more. That’s a lot of gathering in one year and then dig deep again the following year and do it again (whilst listening to disgruntled fans…)

Look at all the local people over the last 50 years who’ve poured money into Dundalk FC, for what? Love of the club, love of the town and what did they get in return? Just think for a minute on that…have any of them come out the far side with a return, or with thanks?

Rovers have 2000 fans paying €600 a year and investors throwing large sums in and even with their European prize revenue they’re still losing money… realistically how many fans could we get willing to contribute €50 per month, every month, every year…whilst listening to disgruntled fans…

As it stands we are 5-6 weeks away from Xmas, no word on Season Tickets, no sponsor on kits that may be sold over Xmas (will put some off buying I am sure) and players rumoured to be leaving at the speed of knots. What I find very funny in all of this is .... the lads who protested to get rid of Peak6 are all very quiet. Do they know something we don't?
Ye you’re right, the ssa are cowards.. I really thought they’d have released some sort of statement by now as they were the driving force behind getting P6 out in 2021. The club is in the gutter because of 3 local men it’s a crying shame. 2024 is going to be miserable and we’ll definitely be lucky to stay up.
Fast forward two years and the protest group didn't exactly get it right, so I don't blame them for not sticking their neck out this time round. They must have got assurances at the time that this ownership would be different but here we are.

We now need an owner willing to spend money for the privilege of owning our club. A lot of money too, we need an owner who will cover floodlights, new pitch at the minimum and then keep us full time, giving a proper budget to O Donnell. Then after sorting that, actually look at the long term state of the club, stadium and where fans sit in all of it.

Does anyone know any billionaires?

Was anything said at the Hoban tribute night regarding what’s going on in Oriel?

"Passionate stuff from Stephen O'Donnell at the end of his on stage appearance at the Patrick Hoban tribute night, saying he is aware fans have been in the dark on the club's status but is hopeful it will become clearer in the next week or so" via James Rogers on twitter

I wasn't there but some people saying he sounded quite positive about the whole thing

That was virtually the only thing said about the ongoing situation. To be fair it was a charity night and there wasn't really a place for that type of conversation.
One overarching feeling from the night is that we are losing way more than our top goalscorer, we're losing a great guy who loves Dundalk and is embedded in the community. How many other players would come to tears when they speak about how proud they are to pull on the jersey?
A great great shame it has come to this.

On an unrelated note. The frogs offered Doherty a 2 year full time contract as manager.

Well deserved he overachieved last year thought they’d fall apart when Draper Ahui and Manny left. Makes sense when he turned down cork job now

The new owners at Drogheda made sensible decision with Doherty. Unlike what was happening at Shelbourne with the Hull owners.

Hearing a lot of rumours about Micheal Danson (Wigan Owner) taking over anyone hear this or know if there’s truth to it?

Not a whole lot but the two significant bits of info is that he's changed his tune from being "less confident about a deal being done" to it being "imminent" and also Oriel Park is to be renamed as part of the new sponsorship.

A deal fell apart about two weeks ago which may have prompted the players to effectively announce en masse last week that they were leaving.

Apparently O'Donnell has asked the players not to sign contracts elsewhere until this deal finalised. Hoban could be staying yet.

The whole thing is just bananas...
