Dundalk v Derry City | Fri 09 February ko 14.00

Post by oldfogey »

Interesting game coming up.

Dundalk haven't uploaded a team yet, although the management section is completed. Derry City have, with Hoban starting alongside 5 "triallists". Only 9 in the team though. 3 more triallists on the bench.

Any word on line ups or how the game went.
I know pre season is about getting minutes under the belt and integrating new lads but the results are a slight concern.

Shelbourne 1-1 (D)
Malahide 3-1 (W)
Longford 0-1 (L)
Drogheda 1-2 (L)
UCD 1-1 (D)
Derry 0-3 (L)

Not sure if they're in the right order, but yeah not overly enthused about the displays in preseason either however gelling and fitness is the priority I suppose. That could take a while.

I think they were tanked a few times in O Donnell's first pre season, but faired ok in the League. A good few signings new to Irish football so could take a while.

One guy I know at it, said SOD and RH spent most of the game chatting away, and it was a kick around, however the GK looked poor again. Hoban didn't score !

Seemingly the club are close to getting a second GK in early next week, and he is expected to be No 1.

I think that was end of Jan 2022, we were beaten 5-1 at home to Bohs, we finished joint 2nd on GD that year, in 3rd place.

I'm fairly certain during the Kenny era that we didn't win a game in one particular preseason. And I'm sure that season turned out ok!!!

Zero clean sheets
Dundalk Fc. First Irish club to win points in group stages of a major European Competition.

We only won one Presidents Cup, and probably only 1 Malone Cup also under SK. Link below for PC.
