I always thought Kenny would've taken Vinny with him. As he said himself he probably wouldn't have got the assistant manager job but perhaps a coaching role. I wonder did the FAI tell Kenny it was only him they wanted, I reckon Robbie Keane will be still there whenever Kenny gets the top job.

Its doable and will be some statement to take 18 points with such a demanding schedule. The way the season is so front loaded its as important to get a run going now as it is to be on form for the run in. Getting players back from injury and being able to rotate the starting 11 up will be key.
Pats are stuttering a bit relative to their early season epectations and their fans having a confidence wobble too, if we show anything like the sort of form we did against Waterford I feel we will win in Inchicore. Harps at home we can stretch and get in behind their defensive setup compared to the heavy and narrowed Finn Park pitch, our form has picked up from that away draw also. Sligo is a bit of a banana skin, they are not a typical Buckley footballing side and have a more 'cynical' edge to them. That one will need a battling type performance that could do with Shields back in the side. The quick turnaround and Monday night fixture will impact Bohs more than ourselves so i'd be pretty confident of a win. UCD could well be the toughest of the lot as much due to being a 5th game in 17 days and that they are a better side than their current position suggests imo.
Obviously other sides are dealing with the same too but with ourselves and the amount of injuries we've had a lot will depend on how players have recovered during the mini break. A good win tomorrow night will start the unbeaten run nicely!

Interesting article in the Irish Mirror based on an interview with Dean Jarvis
Dean Jarvis opens up on struggles since Dundalk move after encouraging start to the season
His switch to Dundalk last season was an eye-opener as he struggled for starts but the defender now understands what’s required of him to be successful

Mid season review by the Demo has Sean Gannon as poty so far.

Can't say that I agree with their assessment of Sean Murray performances to date

Murray has some important goals and was very good until he got injured and has not played fully fit as yet. Think he has done enough to show he has quality and will add to the team. Probably done more than Adjoran at this stage last season who only stared to blossom in the few games before he was off but had showed in flashes he had quality. I think Murray is probably ahead of him at this point. Hope he plays against Rovers and puts Byrne in his place. Time will tell

I broadly agree with you and think that the Demo has over-hyped his performances

The Demo labelled Sean Murray as "a pleasant surprise" when the reality is that there was very strong expectations based on how he performed for Watford and Republic of Ireland underage teams. His performance in his first appearance, against Drogheda, simply raised these expectations further

Saying he "has impressed on his every outing" is hardly correct when he has laboured with a lack of fitness in many games.

I have no doubt that he has the potential to be one of the standout performers in this league once he gains fitness and form - but he has only shown this in glimpses so far.

With the Euro draw relatively kind we're going to be busy for July in particular and possibly August. Cork at home and Pats away will probably have to be moved, especially as either opponent could be busy too. We are guaranteed 4 Euro matches on consecutive weeks, 6 looks likely, and 8 is a possibility. Here's a list of 18 games in just over 2 months!

Fri 28 Jun Shamrock Rovers (a)
Mon 1 Jul Waterford (h)
Fri 5 Jul Derry City (a)
Wed 10 Jul RIGA Champions League
Wed 17 Jul RIGA Champions League
Fri 19 Jul Cork City (h) ***
23/24/25 Jul CL2 or EL2
Fri 26 Jul St Pats (a) ***
30/31/01 Jul/Aug CL2 or EL2
Sat 3 Aug Sligo (a)
6/7/8 Aug possible CL3 or EL3
Weekend 9/10/11 Aug FAI Cup
13/14/15 Aug possible CL3 or EL3
Fri 16 Aug Finn Harps (h)
(20/21/22 Aug CL/EL playoff)
Weekend 23/24/25 Aug FAI Cup
(27/28/29 Aug CL/EL playoff)
Fri 30 Aug UCD (a)

There is also the small matter of an EA Sports Cup Semi-final against Bohs on Mon 5th August.

Good point, and there's actually not a whole lot of scope for postponing that one as the final is pretty solidly fixed for 14 September. EA Cup and FAI Cup drop in priority as Europe unfolds. It'd be great to g oand win in Tallaght next week and give ourselves an eight point cushion before it all goes mental.
