What is the cost to the club to run all the underage teams and is it part of any licensing agreement to have underage sides?

The cost of running them .. I cannot say anything to, I would assume it is a substantial sum. As for having a youth setup it is part of the process ...... the link below will give you all your answers!

It seems the Academy is in a spot of bother.

As some of you may be aware the club have a Ladies team playing in the NEFL. This is - in effect - last years u17 side looking to gain experience ahead of being entered as u19 in the WNL next year. Earlier this week the club's FB page posted a link to an announcement that they were entering an u17 team in the WNL, and invited interest from coaches and players, replies to Stephen McDonnell. This would appear to have generated the obvious question about plans for the u19s. While the response from the club is not in the public domain, the backlash from the squad's players and parents speaks for itself, accusing the club of breaking promises reaffirmed only recently.

Pay to Play is nothing new. Last time I was involved it was €200 (2012). At that time there were only the 2 older age groups.

Just out of curiosity what does the €300 cover?
Dundalk Fc. First Irish club to win points in group stages of a major European Competition.

With the advent of minimum coaching badge requirements, most coaches are paid in some shape or form. I would imagine those at the top end of the UEFA B ladder are earning 5 figures. A lot of squads would also travel by bus/minibus. There used to be a travel grant from the FAI (it comes from UEFA) but there was always a shortfall. There were also medical bills to pay. The insurance excess on any particular injury/claim was always just above the cost of a scan.

I've not been involved in licensing since before the current underage setup was introduced but I'm sure its mandatory for LOI clubs. The amount spent - and therefore quality - depends on what a club can afford. Rovers threw a lot of money at the Roadstone training ground, but have already made a killing with Bazunu. Bohs have seen the fruits of linking up with St Kevin's who are generally accepted as the strongest schoolboy club in the country. Success can create a a huge demand to join a club's academy. At the height of our success trials had to be spread over a number of dates, such were the numbers who hoped to get spotted by Stephen Kenny.

They have just posted online looking for Under 19 ladies players. They would have avoided lots of angry players and parents if they did this at the same time as the U 17 team.
A week's wages or signing on few for some of the donkeys the senior men's team took on this year would have covered those player fees.

I see a tweet from WNL welcoming the u17 girls team for next year. Looks like the u19 application is not going ahead.

MGL North u16 side beat Galway this afternoon to clinch the Gaynor Cup, the national inter league trophy. Caoimhe Magee, Lisa Stanfield, Sophie Hanlon and Ciara Whyte (daughter of John) were all involved from the current u16 side.
