Re: Podcasts
eye-opening stuff from dan on loi central
certain agents in the background , briefing journos for their own ends , , pushing the managers who they think will buy and play their players by the sounds of it
rotten stuff , reminder of the pinch of salt to add to everything said, dans stuff often parroted by our own and other podcasters and taken as fact . hopefully we won't be under their spotlight again for a long time
couple of decent first division managers getting on to their pod , hopefully because they want to and not fear of dan trashing their rep with future bs from agents and 'sources'

Re: Podcasts
They mentioned about tying down Ryan O Kane as he will be attracting interest. Though he has 2 more years on his deal
I see Dan McDonnell in the newsletter saying Shamrock Rovers are getting a 5 figure sum for every start Sinclair Armstrong makes with QPR up to a certain amount of games. And the same if he progresses to the Ireland Senior team. With a big sell on fee also. A similiar route to the Bazunu deal
They are making some money on top of the Euro money

Fair play to them. LoI clubs have been plundered on the cheap for donkey's years.Richie87 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 4:15 pm They mentioned about tying down Ryan O Kane as he will be attracting interest. Though he has 2 more years on his deal

It's the sensible thing to do if a player is going for a low fee. I wonder do Dundalk have any clauses with Val Adedokun at Brentford. He's a bit away from the first team but if ever did get a crack at it.

Re: Podcasts
I have to congratulate the Press Box podcast , it’s been a great listen and James Rogers has really come into his own over the past couple of months. It’s refreshing that he’s not afraid to call anybody out, be it the club, players, LOI refs or his own colleagues in the media. I don’t think there is this fearlessness and honesty in the other DFC podcasts but maybe they are slightly different formats, where they’re run by ordinary fans so to speak.
The Pressbox has mentioned players by name when it felt their performances weren’t up to scratch. He doesn’t do it in a malicious or unfair way he just points out that we expect more from the good players. Also to be fair, Rogers did come back and name check the same players when the performances improved.
There was a recent episode where Roger’s castigated the standard of refereeing in the league and every word he said was accurate. Yet this problem is pretty much ignored by the national LOI media. If it is mentioned, it’s usually a mild rebuke. Too afraid to rock the FAI’s boat?
Last week’s episode talked about how a small cohort of refs are getting the Dundalk games time and time again and how this has the potential to bring about biased decisions as basically familiarity breeds contempt. I’d say if one were to examine this phenomenon throughout the league you’d see that’s its common practice with other clubs too. I wouldn’t put it passed the FAI to distribute the refs’ matches on a geographical basis as a cost saving approach in order to keep the diesel consumption down!
This week’s pod gave a large part over to the media portrayal of DFC and in particular that a re tweet of the Ryan O’Kane incident against Bohs by the leading LOI print journalist led to it being seen over 70k times yet all the other arguably bigger incidents throughout the year( many of them involving rovers players surprise surprise!) hardly got mentioned and gained no traction nationwide at all. There was a 7 min debate about it on OTB ffs! Nothing said about Dan Cleary’s dive in Tallaght when Martin scored or him punching the ball 30 yards or Rory Gaffney’s couple of ‘tackles’ against Connolly and in Europe.
A great pod lads, keep up the good work and keep speaking the truth!!

Re: Podcasts
To be honest I don't think O'Kane dived, I think his studs caught in the pitch and he tripped. Now it was clear from the stand that it wasn't a foul. So any blame is at the hands of the officials really.

Exactly. Bad decision from the officials but there’s one of them every week and it usually doesn’t get highlighted by most journalists even though many of them have been more high profileniall_hearty2000 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 7:48 pm To be honest I don't think O'Kane dived, I think his studs caught in the pitch and he tripped. Re: Podcasts
In positive news , the podcasters were so universally positive about sod's appointment despite such limited senior coaching experience , they're giving him propper leeway .
that's what we need - no silly mid season replacements
Ironically , sods appointment tuns out to he the best decision the seemingly ambitiousless owners have made as it keeps pressure off the horrific performances
''
but at least we know stevie as a player , and the owners are local ... dats de main ting '' as someone said in tolka park last week ...
two wins at the weekend and we're back ...
two losses and ...

Listened to The Press Box with Paddy Casey this morning, he certainly had some stories, however I could not help but feel that he was on a minor PR exercise for the club. How often did he mention the need for investment, for us to be part of a multi-club model ....
Has he been asked to pave the way, help break news to fans softly, is the next Hull incoming?

Re: Podcasts
Pressbox this week… Rogers absolutely excoriating the running of the club from a business point of view. You would wonder why Andy Connolly and SS aren’t running fundraisers like golf classics, quiz nights etc to help with investment.
