Interesting to see Filippo Giovagnoli will be one of the guests at the Pressbox live event. Will certainly be interesting to see if he hangs the FAI or Peak6 out to dry regarding the issue of being manager, head coach .... and finally being let go. Anyone know if the lads will be broadcasting the show live online for expats or is it going to be live all ticket and then released online later?

That's a fantastic guest to have and will certainly attract a few more through the door to get his take on things.

Hi Guys,

Craig here from The Press Box Podcast.

Dropping a line in here to let you guys know that our live show at The Spirit Store is coming up next Wednesday.

We have some great guests including Martin Connolly, Derek Pepper and Dermot Ahern, along with bringing over Filippo Giovagnoli from Italy to discuss his time at the club.

It will be a great night that will include a quiz too with lots of prizes and craic.

We would love to see as many people there as possible on the night and if you are interested in heading up you can buy tickets at www.spiritstore.ie or at the door on the night.

The doors open at 8pm and audience participation will be encouraged with audience questions too.

We Hope to see you guys next week and thanks to all who listen each week.

Craig

I’ve been following the discussion re LOI / LOI in Europe coverage, that has taken place over the last week on Twitter. I came across Dan McDonnell’s contribution to OFTB football show this evening. Interesting that he says that OP should never feature as a TV fixture because of how bad it looks on the box! A Declan McBennet wet dream there!!
I’m sure The Men who saved football podcast , who have had numerous tweets about this subject this week , along with most DFC fans, will find this very interesting.

An average game can look better in a modern stadium. A average game surrounded by Chip vans can look a lot worse.

Turners Cross is a very good stadium, it's a blow for th3 league having a big club in the 1st Division. One of th3 few clubs with a good stadium with Rovers,. The Bradywell is good but would look better if fully complete all way round. Sligo have good plans for their stadium and Finn Harps should be decent.

I can see his point to an extent but I don't think it makes any difference. It's a tiny tiny factor of a much larger problem. If the league, FAI, media, etc. were trying to promote the league properly and sell rights outside of the country then fair enough. If Peak6 got their wish and we were playing out of Landowne Road it's not going to make any extra people tune in to one of our games although the goals might look a little better on YouTube

Click bait on Dan's part. The camera position makes a huge difference. If the gantry in Belfield was on the stand side, it looks like the game is being played in a local park. So what happens if/when Oriel Park gets replaced/upgraded? Will he then pick on Head in the Game park, or is that not PC because of the naming? Shelbourne have put themselves in the spotlight by refusing at the last minute to groundshare. They have also set Bohs back both in terms of completion date, and the finished article. And that's without looking at ever increasing building costs. Finn Harps finally got the go ahead to restart, but you can rest assured that won't run smoothly.

Bohemians seem to be now looking at a 3 sided terrace stand, with one seated stand ,which would be cheaper then the original plan of 6k all seater. It would bring up the attendance to 10k.

That's if it gets passed in next few months

I don’t think any journalist that reports on Irish football should be stating that games from certain stadiums should never be shown on TV! The more coverage the league gets the better

If he thinks oriel is that bad, then he shouldn't attend any games there..

He has to keep up his agenda Niall, whatever that may be only he know, certainly has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to the team he claims to support..... hated our previous owners, now he thinks our games shouldn't be on TV ... what next? Should Oriel be closed to the general public? He may have founded this page, however maybe the lad should think about outing himself as a closet Rovers diehard, seems to have settled perfectly into his new fine Dublin surroundings.
Agree with you, if he doesn't like Oriel, he should stay away.

He gets too much slack on this site because he founded it . We aren't perfect, oriel is far from perfect, but we don't need hounding constantly by him. It detracts fans from attending.

If he used his print inches and profile to lobby for government funding for the LOI infrastructure, it might do more for the LOI in general. But he would then have issues with his mates in Abbotstown and Dublin in general, might step on toes. It would also not get a reaction so he people would not be clicking or commenting, maybe we could setup a go fund me to collect for his first Rovers kit.

I see where he is coming from. From a casual fan point of view if you flicked it on it looks really poor on TV. The problem is the only grounds you would show on TV using his logic would be tallaght and brandywell. Personally I'm not too bothered about the casual TV audience but more the people who are put off attending in person. When you attend the facilities and general offer is really poor. I love oriel park and would hate to see us move but it has barely changed since I started attending mid 80s. It's not up to him to lobby government - politicians are after votes and clearly don't think this is worth their effort getting behind. Somehow that needs to change.
