Lots of Podcasts doing the rounds at the minute:
Interesting interview with John Gill on the Final Whistle podcast:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44aax1vdgnk (from 22:30secs in)
https://www.pressbox.ie/ - episode 7 'Bleak 6' - plenty of good info and food for thought from a despondent James Rogers.
I've listened to a couple of the fan run podcasts and they're not my cup of tea. Plenty of banter but lacking in any real substance/insight.

Re: Podcasts
I enjoy The Men who Saved Football. Its basically 3 or 4 fans sitting around talking about the club. Reminds me of when the pubs were open and going in after a match for a few pints!!!
As was said above, you arent going to learn anything new but it's good to hear other opinions

Re: Podcasts
All the podcasts are pretty good , personally prefer The Men who Saved Football, the Pressbox and LOI Central (when they are not too depressing to listen to). I think in general , Podcasts add so much to the LOI experience. A much more enjoyable resource than something half-arsed by RTE. Some better Youtube stuff (like a highlights show talking about the actual games) and the league will have finally entered into the modern age.
Anyways, here is the poem from the bit at the end of the Pressbox. Enjoyed it myself:

Re: Podcasts
Interesting PressBox this week. Caoimhin O’Reilly not holding his opinions back! Although I’m getting sick to the back teeth of podcasters harping on about the Kenny years! Stephen moved on and I think others should too , buts that’s just my opinion.
I didn’t agree with his point that it’s up to Bill to set up a supporters club in OP. I thought that was a bit left field. Fcuk me can you imagine the shitstorm if did it? He’d probably be accused of trying to control or influence the supporters. It’s up to fans themselves to organise something like that imo.
James Rogers makes a great point re this so-called protest next week. Who is organising it? What are their plans if Bill gets sacked and Peak6 pull the plug ( why would Matt H is stick around)? Why don’t they actually try and set up a dialogue with Bill instead of jumping head first into protest?
By the way, if this protest wants to line up the Carrick rd with a few banners, fire ahead.
If they’re intent of blocking Rovers bus or breaking into OP like what happened at Old Trafford, they can fcuk off, they won’t be representing me as a DFC fan.

Re: Podcasts
Listened to it as well. Thought James Rogers was spot on re the protests. They're a bad idea. They achieve nothing. I don't think any of the people protesting or planning to has thought it through. They are being inspired by what is going on in England. They want Bill out but can't see the obvious link that if Bill goes Peak 6 likely go. Some want Peak 6 out and think everything will go back to the way it was.
Peak 6 out could be the end of the club. If we end up broke and scrapping in the first division again not many of those protesting will be going to games.
I don't like the way things are being run or the mistakes that have been been made but at this moment in time having Peak 6 as owners is better than the alternative.
I'm holding on to the hope they get the management appointment right and Bill let's them get on with it. If not than God help us.
Finally the irony of Gerry Malone looking to out Pepsi on here while supporting a protest run by someone anonymous is hilarious

It's also embarrassing how he presents himself to the club as a "Journalist", courtesy of the local paper. He puts himself out there as the voice of the supporters. Quite easy when he blocks anyone who he doesn't agree with. It's deeply worrying when members of the general public are afraid to question/disagree with the Fourth Estate for fear of retribution. Once a schoolteacher, always a schoolteacher I suppose.magarnagle wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 9:27 pm Listened to it as well. Thought James Rogers was spot on re the protests. They're a bad idea. Re: Podcasts
I'd agree with yourself and James. While I would sympathise with the sentiment of the protest, unfortunately I don't think it will achieve anything and could cause more problems than it fixes, especially if some fans take it too far and try to get on the pitch. Bill isn't going anywhere in the short term and neither are Peak6. Let's no fool ourselves, there is no way that Matt will sack Bill no matter how much of a blundering mess he is making of the club or what the fans think.magarnagle wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 9:27 pm Listened to it as well. I would love to see that energy going towards building an successor to Peak6 or even to work alongside them in a 50+1 model. I can't see white knights like Andy and Paul coming in to save us next time we are staring into oblivion.

Re: Podcasts
Those supporters that are protesting at the clubs in England know the clubs could get new ownership.
If the Glazers put United up for sale tomorrow there would be offers.
The owner of Spotify Daniel Eke wants to buy Arsenal and include a few ex players like Bergkamp, Henry as part of the ownership.
Unless Dundalk know who has the funds to buy out the club and willing to take over, there won't be much gained

This is the reality, there is nobody coming to save us. If Peak 6 go and the club manages to survive it will be down to the hard work of a minority of fans like in 2012. You won't see the lads swigging cans on the wall putting their hands in their pockets or doing the bucket collections.Louth4sam wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 10:02 amI'd agree with yourself and James. The organiser(s) of this protest have a Facebook page that they are making statements on with no name attached. They have a link to an interview with the website between the strips where they are referred to as "the group spokesperson". Why not put your name to this? Why all the secrecy?

Re: Podcasts
Another excellent Pressbox podcast today. I thought Brendan Ogle spoke very well and I agreed with a lot of what he and James Rogers said. The problems we have now were there long before P6 ever came to Dundalk. We as fans enjoyed the good times but didn’t put the hard work in to secure the club or help finance a new stadium like Sligo. P6 wouldn’t know who to talk to if they wanted to engage with fans. The fans that are protesting before Rovers don’t represent me and I just hope there’s no trouble.
A strong , democratic supporters club that can represent fans and work closely with the owners is something I’d be willing to join and help finance.

Re: Podcasts
Well said Martin , I would be very interested in that . The problems we have are emanating from a lot of things , from owner after owner not addressing the ground debacle. The supporters , including myself allowing the situation to deteriorate over the years . The politicians from the area , who did nothing . I would be 100% behind our present owners & I think they would like nothing better than have a new stadium , it could happen if we all pull together .

Take a bow young man, very well put and to the point. Pitty you were not writing the press releases for the protestors......Martin Lawlor80 wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 6:00 pm Another excellent Pressbox podcast today. Personally feel we may need 2-3 fan groups, each electing someone to sit on a fans council. That would ensure everyones view is heard and not just those who scream loudest.

Outside of the LOI , Harry Redknapp had a decent podcast. Season 1 ended recently https://podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/f ... 0513149621
Golazzo Podcast with James Richardson is very good too, reminiscing when Seria A was the top league in the 90s https://www.thetotallyfootballshow.com/ ... lian-show/
