I hate these chinese whispers that go about, there could we'll have been a meeting to discuss results and maybe there was a bit of words but to walk would be extreme and I find it highly unlikely. If there isn't an announcement today then it's safe to say it's bullsh*t.

I was very critical of the UCD result and performance but the last thing we need is losing SOD. Get a result on Fri and then reset for the next home league game. Hopefully we’ll be in a better position injury wise
Recruitment (and retention!) has been a big issue. Whether that’s SOD’s remit or the board’s, I don’t know

Greatness how much this town loves a good half arsed rumour. I don't know what went on over the weekend but I think there's more chance of Big Bird being announced as our new Director of Football than Stevie not being in the dugout on Friday night

Stevie is here to stay . Bad & all as last week result was , we are favs for the Cup . Derry or Rovers will be gone .
We would defo take winning the Cup & runner up in the League at this stage . Paddy Power has us 9/4 .
We are looking for that big reaction now , in Waterford .
Football is a funny game . 👍

We might be cup favs, but if Derry had not drawn Rovers we would be 3rd and a bit back. I see we are also 1/3 to beat Waterford, PP must not have seen us play recently!
That said, we have a great chance, plenty of very hard ties we avoided and its another FD side, 90 mins away from semi, 180 from the final, I hope the mindset is right and its a good weeks training, as this is a very winnable tie, if we can lift our heads and turn into some semi decent form.

Mad to think that someone who calls themselves a Dundalk fan made this rumour up. What do you get from that? Some of the people supporting this club would make you despair

In these days of social media being first with the news, or being seen as having an inside track is more important for some than supporting the club. If they spout enough of this they will eventually get something right.magarnagle wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 11:41 am Mad to think that someone who calls themselves a Dundalk fan made this rumour up. exactly , and then some podcaster says '' there's talk about xyz '' ... hopefully we'll not have that nonsense
Convinced some people want us in relegation battles out of nostalgia ' .... we're 3rd ... that's great news given what could have happened and the risks we took let's win on Friday

Lads if we get back to where we were under SK, sure then locals will have to start thinking about donating money to stadium revamps, might even not have an excuse not to come up to Oriel or even worse .... the holy GAA might not get everything thrown at them. The club need a good PR person, someone to only focus on lobbying and shouting from the rooftops to make elected officials realise Oriel is worth the investment.
The problem with social media is, it could have been a Pats or Rovers fans that put it out and it took wings .... not everything on Twitter etc. is gospel.

In this instance there wasn't a mention of it on Twitter or any other forum bar this one. It seems to be more a case of it being spread via word of mouth by people without the clubs best interests at heart, and that's putting it politely.Pepsi wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 6:24 pm Lads if we get back to where we were under SK, sure then locals will have to start thinking about donating money to stadium revamps, might even not have an excuse not to come up to Oriel or even worse .... the holy GAA might not get everything thrown at them. Pepsi , as per usual you are on the ball , it could well have been a disgruntled supporter from another club . Stevie has balls of steel , & my guess he is here for the long haul . He has gone through enough this season , & I have know doubt he is already planning for next year . That is not rocket science . Obviously we miss Hoban & Benson recently & it is not easy to replace arguably the best centre forward & midfielder in the league , two dynamic players that bring that vital extra on to a pitch . I totally agree a committee or an individual that knows how getting a grant or whatever to get us a new stadium & have a relentless tunnel vision attitude to get a new stadium . Where the fk do u start , nobody wants to know , it beggars belief , It says fk all for the town of Dundalk , businesses , politicians etc. etc . I won’t mention any ex politicians in Dundalk , they were a waste of space & afraid of there own shadow . I’ll say no more .

I got it via WhatsApp .... know 2 or 3 who got it per private message on Instagram. I suspect someone was trying to stir shit ..... or be a smart arse, either way it doesn't seem to be true. Stevie walked from Pats under a shadow ... court cases were spoken about ... SOD still walked into Oriel. He aint going to walk out too quickly .... important is the owners back him.Towelie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 6:46 pmIn this instance there wasn't a mention of it on Twitter or any other forum bar this one. Just gonna highlight this one again not that we’ve had reason to focus mindsTrevDaRev2 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 2:11 pm Probably a bit early in the day for this but looking at recruitment for next season and think we should really be targeting a lot of younger players and players already proven within the league. This is all based on the assumption the majority of the current crop stick around and with a view to strengthening the squad. Dunno what some of these lads contract situation is but just throwing names out there:
Defenders: Shane Blaney (Sligo, 23) Sam Todd (UCD, 24) Luke Byrne (Shels, 29) Evan Weir (Drog, 20) Conor Kane (Shels, 23) Joe Redmond (St Pats, 22)
Mid: Dayle Rooney (Drog, 24) Conor Levingston (Bohs, 24) Jamie Lennon (St Pats, 24) Niall Morahan (Sligo, 22) Ben McCormack (St Pat, 19) Evan Caffery (UCD, 19)
Att: Eric McWoods (Harps, 26) Max Mata (Sligo, 22) Sean Boyd (Shels, 24) Dean Williams (Drog, 22)

I'd add Phoenix Patterson and Junior Quitirna to that list as well. Not sure what the money's like in Waterford but surely they won't spend another season in the first division.
