Make of this what you will
Whoever is not signing Connolly out of us, Rovers and Derry, must be looking at Cleary.

No brainer now with us out of the race for Connolly to go for Cleary (unless we have a huge amount of faith in McCourt). He went backways under Perth, but all the players that stalled under Perth look world beaters under O'Donnell (Leahy, Sloggett and Kelly). He also seemed to be one of St. Johstones better players. Cleary signs, Boyle/ Cleary as starters, McCourt as 3rd choice, Garts as reserve and Bone as utility and cover for Leahy/Macari and holding Midfield, is decent.

This probably wont happen at all....., but if Cleary came back, Lewis signed on a longish term contract and Hauge in on loan... We might come out of the window a bit better than we entered it despite the Connolly news (.... maybe that is too optimistic and scrapping the barrel).

Rovers were strongly linked with Cleary before he signed for St Johnstone, so they will probaly be in for him again. He's from Dublin so might want to be back there

Wasn't there a lot of bad blood with Cleary and Rovers. I remember him scoring a goal and running over to goad their management. He even started a twitter page to wind them up.

Haven't heard him linked to us but If we could add himself and Lewis it would be hard to think we are not stronger than we were even after losing Connolly

Edit: had just clicked send by the time that it was announced Cleary was gone

Really bizarre window, we seem to have gone backwards but at the same time have more cover and depth than we had all season.

Rivals have strengthened, if Connolly went to Derry you'd be worried about him spilling a few tactical weaknesses. We still have to play them twice.

Strange window ... haven't seen enough of McCourt to pass judgement, but if he is to come in to replace Connolly he will have to hit the ground running. I suspect Bone will come in and he will be backup for the middle, lad in work did however tell me he played left-back so could be could also replace Leahy.

As for the other two ... who do they replace in the starting 11? Alfie will surely be coming in to start and not warm the bench.

Connolly to derry confirmed. Apparently Higgins visited him in Scotland to get the deal done.
I hope someone tells Higgins and McCourt to fcuk off out of the stand the next time they visit on a scouting mission.

Would like to see Derry's accounts at the end of the session as they are blowing away what we can pay for players. Peak6 had to invest in infrastructure (dressing rooms, cinema room) to get around the 65% turnover to wage cap

Matty Smith leaving Derry for a loan move. Pats and Shelbourne interested. Would Smith on loan not have been a better move for Dundalk ,then Hauge who is unkown to the league? Though Bradley has excelled coming in on loan

Two or three things in that one .....
1. Derry would have to want to send him to us (doubt they would do us that favour)
2. Skip would have to want him ... and the club would have to be able to afford him, we could all assume Hibs are picking up part of Hauges wages
3. The lad would have to be content coming as a bit part player ... at Pats and Shels he may feel he has a chance of more playing time

People must be content overall with the business done yesterday as there are very few posts in here today.
