Might be a decent shout JG, a lot of these singings certainly have 'a bang' of Kenny about them, this latest lad Joe Adams, dare I say has he a bit of the 'Alfie Lewis' about him, time will tell, but we have a right good bunch of hungry young lads now onboard, nice mix too all starting with Relegated / FD clubs (Martin and Doyle) and others playing for B team in more than a decent standard in England (Shepherd and Adams), all wanting to play at a higher level.

Just need to add that little bit of extra experience now, Connolly would be one at centre half, still think we need at least one more tough midfielder to play central and a left sided defensive option, Bone will prob start as right full, Mountey might still be injured, but that back four and central MF for me are the focus now to tighten up.

If we get off to a good start, Hoban kicks on, who knows, the 4th spot that most are hoping for might need to adjust to top 3, is that realistic? Pats will be our rival for 3rd I think, Sligo seem to have nothing up front and expectation seems low, Bohs lost a lot of key players, and Georgie most likely will be another.

It's a new project and 2023/2024 will be more likely when we will see the fruits of StatSports links to the UK and O'Donnell's build. I don't see Pat's Bohs or Sligo any stronger than last season but with so many unknown quantities it's hard to know if we're stronger also. I think people are losing the run of themselves a little with Derry though, some cracking signings all right but who knows if they will click or will the influx of so many players in to a settled dressing room at once might cause friction. While I would expect Derry to finish second, any of the aforementioned or even ourselves could have a stab at second if a decent run was put together.

We are still at least five players short though. A lot will depend who we get in

Pats have more firepower then last season in
Eoin Doyle , Tunde Owolabi, and Mark Doyle ,but light in other areas. Though still a month before the season starts.

While I can see the comparisons to the 2013 squad I think that the main reason we were successful that year (and 2014 as well) was because the standard of strength and conditioning in the league was quite poor. Kenny came in and appointed Graham Byrne and the S&C work done was amazing, we really set the standard for what the league is today.

Whether a 2013 style squad mixed with experience and young talent willing to prove themselves can achieve that today - I'm not so sure but I think we'll be really competitive.

Another Welsh midfielder being linked in Dean Williams of Swansea. A loan deal for the season being mentioned.

Damien Duff looking to bring Wes Hoolahan back to Shelsley.

Hearing that it's Steve Williams nephew. A lot of central midfielders.

All a conspiracy to wind up SOD former employers … sure wasn’t St. Patrick Welsh 😊

Fair point, but there is no one in the league quite like Hoban, if he gets going and get service from the wings (Duffy is irreplaceable mind) who knows.

I think Doyle is a good signing for Pats, but he is 34 in a few months, look how no English club challenged Pats for his signature, then again same for most Irish lads coming home, Towell, Boyle, Fats, and hopefully Horgan to us in the summer !

Yeah Doyle isn't getting any younger, but should have a few seasons in him rarely injured. Wes Hoolahan still performing at 39. Doyle scored over 100 goals in England, where Pat Hoban struggled. But Hoban a excellent League of Ireland player.

Doyle had offers in England, but wanted to return and work under Tim Clancy who he knew from his time at Hibernian

I stand corrected on Doyle, appears he did indeed have interest from English clubs, plus agreed he was scoring and to be fair he looks in good shape !

Think I read his wife and a partner also have a business in Dublin a creche perhaps, makes sense for his move home.
