2022 Season General Thread

Post by oldfogey » Thu Feb 10, 2022 5:10 pm

I see Rovers are classifying home games against Bohs, Pat's, Shelbourne, and ourselves as Category A games with increased prices. (on-line purchase ONLY)

Also screwing fans from the other 5 clubs who can't/don't want to buy on-line. Cat B games (adults) are an extra €3 per ticket on top of a price which already includes the on-line purchase admin fee.

Excellent video. Almost worthy of a thread on it's own.

I don’t see us included anywhere on the list for the Sports Capital grants announced today. Did we apply for these I wonder? rovers, drogs FH all received sizeable amounts. Shocking if we didn’t even apply

Yeah there was decent funding handed out. It depends what Dundalk would be applying for, or did it meet the criteria. A few clubs got money to redevelop their grounds. Dundalk haven't made any plans to develop Oriel so wouldn't have benefited.
Drogheda got funding for a new training Centre . Dundalk have a high performance centre. Maybe another traning pitch?

With the abs mess of running of DFC in 2021 and with P6 and JM still onboard, I wouldn't have even thought they heard about the grants process. By all accounts we got the 2021 PD licence by skin of our teeth.

Proper run club now, so maybe next season for grants.

I think you will find that the grant was awarded to Drogheda Boys/Girls. That's the underage setup that have been targeted by arsonists.

Rovers have a full time Acamedy. They got grant money for floodlights at their training pitches.

I read they used the money from the sale of Gavin Bazuna to develop a indoor pitch.

Looks like the brilliant period between 2014 and 2020 has resulted in no great legacy for the future other than we got rid of the Yankee chancers. Everytime we have been successful over the years we have failed to capitalise by improving facilities etc.

Did anyone get season tickets yet? They seem to be very last minute.

Some Fcuk up made with the online Derry tickets apparently. I went up to collect my ST today and was told by the office that they couldn’t help me and I’ll have to come back as the shit had hit the fan!
Apparently I can pick it up on the night but from my experience I not going to chance that.
I had to go up twice over Christmas just to pay for my ticket. I don’t blame the office staff but somebody in management needs to get a grip of the ticket situation. My situation is not an outlier as I’ve heard from others that they’ve found it hard to actually give the club money for the STs!

Got mine before the Drogheda match and there wasn't any issues. Does seem that something has occurred since then.

Not sure what kind of algorithm was being used/left out to ensure tciket segregation, but it appears that around 270 home tickets have been bought by Derry fans. These are all being cancelled and money refunded. Derry have already received the absolute maximum allocation and there will be no away tickets on sale on Friday night. They have been advised not to travel without a valid ticket but there are bound to be some nutters who - having received a refund - will still try to use their tickets to get in. Have to say, it would be brave man who would try to bluff it out at the home turnstiles when surrounded by a load of lads from the Shed. Apparently who gets in and is caught will be turfed out, rather than the usual practice of moving them to the away section. I think I'll bring a can of Duramark with me just to help the stewards.

Of course all this is nothing new. People on here regularly boast of buying a ticket for the "home end" in Tallaght, although that's probably one for a Psychiatric Assessor, rather than the Match Day Controller.

Oriel security is brutal you can get drink drugs fireworks pigs heads in, Derry fans that have a bit of sence will say nothing and just watch the game.
